Please email Dr. Byers Shaw at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE. (bshaw@unmc.edu) You may tell him in your email that I suggested you contact him. UNMC has one of the two best liver programs in the U.S. Please let me know what he says after you email him. Thanks – Joni

    Jeff –

Good luck! We’ll hope and pray for tumor shrinkage. One note on avastin – to my knowledge, no studies have been done on the effects of avastin on the renal system, so if kidneys are of concern, please check this out with your doc. God Bless!

    Celia –

I, too am so sorry to hear about your husband. My husband, Mike, age 57, was diagnosed with cc last January. We have a 13 year old daughter. Find the best care possible, ask lots of questions, and research everything that you can find on the subject. No two patients’ disease is exactly the same; no treatments are identical.
Since Mike had no malignancies outside the liver, he was able to undergo chemoembolization last February and March. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
We have not established a blog on this site, but I’d be glad to share whatever I can with you – joni@radiks.net. God Bless!

To our extended cc family whose loved ones became Heaven’s angels this year –

May God hold you close, give you strength, help you heal, and may laughter and joy come to you in 2007!

Kris – My husband Mike was diagnosed with cc in January 2006. We have a 13 year old daughter. Live every day as if it is your last, love each other, and make memories. We’ll hope and pray that your husband’s treatments are effective and that he will live to see your children grow up. I, too worry about the same things as you. I lost my own father when I was 8 years old and even though it is terribly difficult we do continue to live and eventually thrive. You are in my prayers. For all of those afflicted with cholangiocarcinoma, my prayer for 2007 is that a cure will be found. Happy New Year and May God Bless!

    Sandra –

Thank you for your words of wisdom and positive attitude. My husband Mike, age 57, was diagnosed in January, 2006. We have a 13 year old daughter, and hope that through Jesus Christ, the Supreme Physician, and his health care team here at University of Nebraska Medical Center, he will be as fortunate as your husband and live to make many more memories for a lot more years.

My thoughts and prayers are with you. I know that losing your dear husband is heart-wrenching. Please know that we are all here for you, and will do whatever we can.

    Joni
