Yeah, it’s on my list of things to ask on Thursday… my next appt and chemo session. Of course now I have to worry about the weather as well. Terrible weather heading this way. I may not even be able to get here. Bummer.
joolz822MemberHow about swollen feet and ankles? This popped up really badly the other day and hurts like a mofo. Makes walking difficult. Hard to put my shoes on too.
joolz822MemberI”m 57 and had half my liver removed in Feb 2009 and stayed in the hospital about 10 days. I was in terrible pain and took every pain medication they offered. I needed help at home but luckily I have my family. I drove after about a month. Recovery took a long time but I had already been operated on in August and November of the same year; been through chemo and radiation so I was already done in.
But everyone if different. It could take you a less time to recover. I certainly hope so!
joolz822MemberHey Chris – Suburbs of Philly… me too! I live in Bucks County and am bring treated at Doylestown Hospital. I had a second opinion at Temple and they said there wasn’t anything different about the treatment they’d give me so why go into the city if I don’t have to.
I was just diagnosed in December 2010 and have already gone through chemo/surgery/radiation with my previous cancers… anal and liver in 2009. Now we’re just trying to stop the rapid growth of the tumors with chemo because they are non-operable. I have tumors in my liver, right near my pancreas and one in the last vertebra of my spine.
I try to take things one day at a time because we don’t know the future… just have to keep on keeping on.
Glad you found this site. I’m new to it as well.
joolz822MemberThe transfusion went well. In fact I feel asleep because they have me a Benadryl to counter any side effects I might have had! *g* Today I go for a blood test to see if my levels are high enough for chemo on Thursday. Crossing fingers!
joolz822MemberI hope the statistics are wrong because I was diagnosed in Dec 2010 and given a year, year and a half. I’m doing chemo now which will shrink the tumors and keep them at bay. Besides being extremely fatigued, needing a platelet transfusion and occasional bouts of pain, I’m doing OK. Here’s hoping your Dad will as well!

joolz822MemberThat’s great! I just had my first two weeks of chemo and I have a feeling my schedule will be very much like yours. I’ve been diagnosed with about a year to live so hearing your news has given me hope for my future.
joolz822MemberWhile I don’t need it yet, and hopefully won’t for a while, I was thinking about hospice care last night. I know my family will turn to it when it’s called for… I’m just hoping I’ll be able to pass on at home instead of a hospice facility.
When my Dad was dying from pancreatic cancer, Mom had hospice people at her house 24/7. It was a blessing. The work they do is incredible.
joolz822MemberThanks, slittle and nur, for welcoming me to the forum. I appreciate it!
