:o) I will pick some up on my way to her house after work. I work as a Group Home manager for people with intellectual, physical dissibilities, Autism and co occuring mental health concerns and a staple here is Ensure supplement. I can’t believe I didn’t think of that but thank YOU for reminding me. :)

Janine, I am also in Connecticut. My mother was told this past Friday that it is likely cholangiocarcinoma. We have not yet had a biopsy done and will know more tomorrow about the next step we need to take. My general practicioner suggested Cancer Center of America in Philedelphia, however there seems to be a lot of people on this board with first had experience and knowledge so I will continue to “shop around” but we should keep each other informed as we are both in the same general area. I am looking in Smilow Cancer Center in New Haven now.

I am so very thankful for all of your suggestions and will look into them all. This has been the longest weekend ever and I have a new disdain for insurance companies and weekends. In the meantime I’m trying to put a few extra pounds on her. She is about 5’9 and 125lbs. She’s stayed slender because she has very bad arthritis and problems with her discs in her neck and back and the doctor told her she would need to control her weight to lessen the pain. Now its all I can to do fatten her up a little bit. I am trying to introduce her to this site but she isn’t ready yet. Because we do not have the official diagnosis, and because mentally she is not mentally ready, this news is still very fresh for us all. I am very thankful for all of you and for your suggestions.

So strange. The doctor actually said not even tO bother with sloan Kettering. We live just outside of new haven so SK is under two hours. The doctor seemingly had a bad experience there. I don’t really c are where I have to take her. I just want her to have the best possible care she can. THANK YOU for being a weekend board warrior!!

Because the doctor has not yet done a biopsy, he cannot say with certainty however the cat scan shows a blockage in the duct. She’s also got some additional spots on her liver. We live in Connecticut. My doctor refered her to the cancer treatment hospital in philidelphia. We will know more on Monday. What got her to go to the doctors was that she was severely jaundiced. Here a woman of Irish heritage and suddenly in a new England winter he’s orange. The doctor said this form is so rare that the oncologists here won’t be familiar enough to even try to help her. We’ll see Monday what we are to do next. Mom is young, she’ll be 58 in march. Has been a smoker in the past but not now. Never a drinker. We’re just all still in such shock. I am thankful to have found you guys!
