    Hi Kris,
My doctor was going to do it before the surgery, but MRI showed it was already block on my right side of liver. So I had natural embolization:)
They took more than 60% of my liver and last CT showed my left got bigger and working fine.
    Good luck

    Hi Diana,
I had similar experience as your husband. I had jandice and itching so I went to see my primary doctor. She thought I had hepatitis and did some blood work. But she took sooo long to get back to me I went see GI specialist myself. He ordered CT and found that my bile duct was blocked and causing jandice and itching. He placed stent and did brushing on same day. Next day I got a call from him and said biopsy came back positive for carcinoma and refer me to a surgeon. Following week I went to see surgeon for consult. Since I wasn’t getting any relief with stent he wanted me to get MRI. Sure enough they found another mass on my right liver causing bile back up. My bilirubin level was 19. They put another stent. This time I had internal and external(with bag) drain. Few trips to ER due to pain and they ended up changing to softer stent. It week about 2 weeks to bring bilirubin level to 4 which was okay to have surgery. That was past November. With neg. margins and no lymph nodes were involved so they recomm no chemo. So far I feel great. No post op problems.(BTW they took 60% of liver, gb, and bile duct)

I wish your husband the best of luck like I had.

    Hi Derin,
He responded the next day. I was hoping to hear that he agrees with my choice not to do, but he recomm. chemo follow by radiation even it’s not a standard care for my situation.
Also said ultimately it’s my decision and move forward. So I’ve decided to wait till April (next CT) then I’ll talk to oncologist about my options again.

Anyway, I send dr.Javle thank you email and I hope you won’t get in troble. He is a wonderful man for what he’s doing.

Good luck with chemo tomorrow..hope everything goes well :)

    Awesome ChezWright,

I was also told no need chemo since the margins were negative. I had my surgery last November and doing very well. I was a little worry that I didn’t have chemo but since I read your post I feel much better now. I hope I could join you on a long long clean journey.

    Hi Stacy,
I had resection as well as intrahepatic hepaticojejunostomy Roux-en-Y last November. My surgery was done at UIC and doctor is Dr.Giulianotti and he’s a great surgeon. He is not an oncology surgeon but experienced and has done many surgeries for cancer patients.
My surgery took 10 hours and I was on my feet after 3days.
    You can call Myriam 312 355 5562.
    I’m very happy with result.
Wishing you and your father the best!

    Hi Sally,
Sorry to hear about your sister. Hope chemo works for her.
I had resection last november with clean margin and no lymph nodes involvement. My surgeon and 3 out of 4 oncologist recomm no chemoradiation.
After what chemo and radiation did to my Dad before he passed away I was glad to hear I had an option to op out.
But after reading many many post from other cc patients and I’m second guessing my decision not going through it.
So I thought maybe I can email dr. Javle for his opinion. Would you share his email address? I called the hospital but wouldn’t give and saying I need to make an consult appt.
Hope to hear from you….And wishing you and your sister best of luck.

I had lots of back pains and uncomfortable to wear bra 3 to 4 months before I was diagnosed with cc. I thought I was putting on weight so got myself new bra and daily massage from my daughter(she’s only 9 but strong).
Other than that I had no clue until september, I had bad itching everywhere. About 2 weeks later I started turning yellow. So I’m not even sure how long l had and didn’t ask. I only needed to know how to treat this. Oct and Nov was busy with tests, stents,CT,MRI, and finally surgery.
I guess now I need to pay attention to any unusal signs…..

    Hi Pam,
I’m so sorry to hear about your daughter.
Also glad to hear that chemo is helping and hoping she too could have surgery soon. I’m sitting here reading everyone’s post and still wondering if I made the right choice not going through chemo since I had clean margin. I feel like the surgery was the easy part and waiting game is the most difficult part of this caner. Well, at least for me.(maybe I’m thinking too much lately)…

Anyway, I should get ready to pick up my kids from school and take them to gymnastics practice.

    Have a great weekend everyone….

    Aloha, LeeAnn

Thank you everyone for warm welcome.
I’ve been reading everyone’s experiences and comments and wondering if I made the right decision not going through chemoradiation. I was told that chemoradiation needed to start 8 weeks after surgery and timing was impotant. My oncologist is GI specialist and said based on data it was not recomm. She wanted CT in 6 month and check up, but I asked to be seen in 3 months and get CT , PET alternate every 3 months. So I have appts with oncologist and surgeon in Apr. Hopefully I’ll have a better idea by then.
BTW I put on 5 pounds since surgery. Yay!!

    Aloha,
    LeeAnn
