kay. its unlikely of side effect of chemo . the most likey thing could be infection in the throat or adjoining areas because of lower immunity with chemo . or other wise. most of the time secondary spread of the stomach cancers is in neck called as virchows nodes. any way with few doses of antibiotics things would be clear

    Dear asif
i have send you an email giving my opinion about your brother. No one can tell you as how long any body survives. there are many factors attributed to life and death. CC In india and pakistan is rare . its the very old psyche and old teachings in 80s and 90s. there are lots of changes in the management and early detection of the case which cures or prlonges the life un heard in india and pakistan by yesterdoctors. Iam the living example with CC detected in 2007 july resected in march 2008 and living with perfect health and work. i had trekked 15000 ft nathullpass last oct08 and even till this day doing marathon walks of 25k every month and mind you never rested but for the 4weeks during surgery . its the attitute that is every thing . be positive . tumour markers ca19.9 of more then 200 and CEA elevation and to gatather more then 400 is sensitivity of 87% . there area many causes of increase in CA19,9 Mostly because of panceratic causes.diabetic status . biliary infection spreading to pancreas can take the count upto 100 and above. you just dont worry about one CA19.9 Keep monitoring the other things like tumour itself . Dear stan. iam sorry for what tortous pains taking after math you have undergone with this cc. journey and the out come is not upto the pains you have taken. no doubt that cc has metastised into liver through biliary radicles and he has bilesepsis due to blockage . but there may be gleam of hope that liver itself can fight for your dad in detoxifieng the bile getting alternate passage from the existing blockage. as said by Lainyy no body can tell or predict as who and one date one can die. miralces do happen thogh the prognsis is poor. hope for the best and accept the out come . be courageous and confident to face the realities . Dear Asif
as per your letter the way it looks your brothere might have diffuse metastasis in the liver and lymphnodes which might have been the reason for aborted attempt of surgery at chennai. if you can send me the reportsof ct /mri /mrcp/ any biopsy with HPE reports then i can comment on the case . any way my good wishes r with your brother in this dark arena of the disease . i hope for a good light of hope at the end of the tunnel of cc

carolyn i had the same horrifying agony what you had under gone
in jan 2007 i had the first attack of jaundice which lasted for a week and disappered , at that point of time all the LFT And liver makrers were normal.usscanwas normal viral markers were negative. we thought some type of toxic jaundice or drug induced .again in august i had 2nd attack of jaundice with negative viral and tumour markers . this time mrcp had atrophied rt lobe of liver and mrcp angio shown some scarring like thing over the rt bile duct and rt portal with rt intrahepatic biliary dilation , that suspected us to cc ., i had under gone rt hepatecotomy with complete resection rt bile duct and common bile duct along with gallbladder and periportal lymphnodes and they did hepatic jejenostomy and jejeno-jejenostomy to connect my left lobe to jejenum for bile flow .this was done in the month of march 08., and ever since my usscans and LFT And ct scans and mri scans are normal. i had consulted eminent GE; And oncologist all aorund the globe and they negated for chemo or radio therapy. as my HPE Report came as well differnetiated cholangio carinoma with negarive margins of the resection. i often think about chemo and radio. but when i have seen many a cases its of no use for long time progonsis. CC is in lower spectum is slowly progerssing and slowly metastising disease . as it takes years to give symptomps and years to metastize . i truly agree with your drs in not giving chemo and radio. mind you i was only out of work for 4 weeks during the surgery in the month of march 08 and ever since back to work in full swing. summited the mountain peaks of 15000ft . and participiated in marathon walks in couple of times in my place. even my growth was of 2cms in size. let us be positive and dream good of our rest of our lives. iam a practcing gastroenterologist in india and diagnose about 50 to 60 gastro and colonic cancers per month and trea them too.
its horrible to face such and odd situation as clubbing your feelings and mixing them with my patients who has the same truama . any way i wish you a long and longer life with out any problem

In December ’08 at time of my annual physical my liver enzyme count was elevated. After a couple of months of tests and doctors’ appointments, none of which we definitive but everyone suspected CC, I had surgery at Oregon Health & Sciences University hospital. Dr. Billingsley removed the left bile duct which had a 2cc tumor in it and the entire left lobe of my liver. No chemo or radiation was recommended.

I’m doing fine, feeling good (of course, I never felt sick; they caught it so early), and 3 mo. post surgery my oncologist thought I was doing so well he didn’t want to do a CT scan until 6 months. He did blood tests and “no problem.”

It’s been pretty stressful, as you all know, added to the death of my husband in October ’08 after his 3-1/2 year battle with multiple myeloma.
