Thank you all for your kind words.

You are right Cherboug, Mum was really proud of me. I managed to get my Level 2 First Aid through my fire brigade in the last few days of her illness, (though it took a lot out of me as I was so tired and worried.) I’d also just told her that I was accepted by my brigade to do the fire equipment maintenance course. She was over the moon and I think it gave her some peace that I would not only be alright but that I was going to go “in leaps and bounds,” as she said. I was just happy to give her this joy by achieving for her.

Not only that but shortly before she became sick she made her own great achievement by obtaining a million dollar grant from the Queensland Government and creating and setting up residential houses for young people with disabilities who would otherwise be stuck in aged care hostels. We’re so proud of her also!

And many of you are right that she lives on in us and all around us. I am not sure where I stand on God but I do believe we all go on in some way. She is all around us I am positive. She is in the landscape, in certain colours and smells and songs and of course in our memories. And I feel she is also existing in some form that I cannot understand as yet.

I read her posts her frequently but did not feel to invade her space. She talked to me about you often and asked me if I had read this person’s post or that person’s post and she was so proud of herself when you gave her positive words of encouragement. She was dignified and brave through out her illness and she taught me that I can be the same.

    Mel
