Thanks to you all. He has to stay in bed until he goes to the doctors office Monday and he has a drain bag attached to where it leaks but they didn’t really do anything else at the ER per the surgeons instructions. I’m thinking from what I read on here that’s it’s his liver now. Guess we wait till Monday. Keep u posted. Much love and thanks, Judi

Thank you Darla, I wrote my post in this morning and now have spent the day in the ER. when they got him up at the nursing home to do some exercise, Fluid and blood came flying out of between his staples from the surgery 11 days ago. The home took him to the ER where he has a bag to collect the fluid. They sent him back tonight after not really doing much except his surgeon wants to see us on Monday morning. his swelling has gone down so I guess he’s just full of fluid. Don’t know much about that either. Your link didn’t work but thanks for trying. Judi

Hello again, to lj1954, that is exactly what happened to my husband. The tumor is blocking the exit of his stomach. Instead of a stent they did a gastric bypass surgery. he is now eating a little and it seems to be going well but he got C-diff, a serious infection. Today is day 12 in the hospital and they are transferring to a nursing home for a couple weeks as a transition. He is extremely weak. I don’t know enough about it to know if that is an option for your husband. Karl’s tumor is the size of a small fist and is right in the center of all everything, stomach, pancreas, liver, bile ducts.

Thanks all. We are snowbirds so when this happened we were in the Palm Springs area. He is at Eisenhower hospital which is supposed to be very good. He had the best surgeon in the desert. No results from the biopsy yet but he is doing well after the stomach bypass and started to drink liquids today.

Hi Barbara, I think we might have had a misdiagnosis too. My husband was diagnosed May 2010 with CC. he had two stents put in to relive the jaundice and the whole next year was a nightmare. I won’t go into the details but he almost died several times with infections. and has had two different sets of opinions. Now he had a metal stent put in over 3 months ago and seems to be getting better every day. In fact his tests are all perfectly normal and he has gained back all the lost weight and he acts and lives perfectly normal like nothing every happened. He doesn’t want to go through any more testing so here we are. It is sure messing with my mind I’ll tell you. Our doctors just scratch their head and say he sure doesn’t follow any test book, so leave him alone. I hope you get some answers. If it’s not CC then what else could it be? Thant’s what I want to know!!

Andie, He was on daily antibiotics but they stopped working so now he has cipro to take when he starts getting the fevers and then he goes to the hospital for IV antibiotics. Everytime he gets an infection it turns out to be a different strain. It’s so weird, I don’t know what to think anymore. My mind was all prepared for being a widow soon and now it looks really good for Karl for awhile so I guess the only thing to do is take it one day at a time. We went down to So. CA for the winter and I didn’t expect to be bring him home the way he was when we got here, but now…we’re leaving to go back to WA on May 1. Both of us. Go figure. This disease is crazymaking!!!

Thanks everyone for sharing. We got new cat scan results today and nothing is changing. The doc says he also has a slow growing tumor like some of you mentioned. He is not having chemo as he gets very frequent infections.

Thanks Andie, Karl’s is exactly the same location as your Dad’s was. I don’t think it has gone anywhere else but he has enlarged lymph nodes by the tumor about the size of a quarter we are told. not sure what that means exactly.

Yes, Andie and Lainey, I agree. thanks for the input. I have one more question. Is CC fast or slow growing? I have two doctors tell me both answers.

The new doctor has all the records from the other doctors in seattle but I will try to get some clarification if I can. I did hear somewhere that sometimes this cancer does not show up in the various scans. Has anyone else heard that?

I would like to know the answers to your questions too. One doctor said it was slow growing and another one said it was fast. for my husband it’s been 7 months since diagnosis and at first it was growing and now they have trouble seeing it on scans. I don’t know what to make of it either.

I was beginning to think no one else had infections like my husband Karl so thank you for the question. he is always having bouts of cholangitis with sepsis and has been in and out of the hospital. Now we don’t feel like the ‘lone ranger” reading all your posts so thank you.
Question’ does getting the stents replaced usually stop it for awhile after?

Hi 32 coupe, They did the dye test and since the replacing of the stents friday, he has not had a fever so far. I don’t know what they plan to do about the fluid around the liver. Our next appointment is Dec. 27th. You’ve certainly given me some questions to ask and I thank you.

Lainy, You are my role model. You are very lucky to have found Teddy. He sounds like a wonderful husband, which you deserve. My prayers are with both of you.
