Yeah, the doc is trying, but they are balking. May have to start with chemoembolization first although the Doc would prefer the other first.

Surgeon and Onc have different stories? I hate it when that happens. :D Here’s hoping you have a great visit with them today.

    ADRW,

My heart truly aches when I hear of the suffering of others with this terrible disease. I pray every day that I will be as strong as the others that post on this sight. Never give up hope, for hope is eternal. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your partner. May you both be granted with the comfort you need.

Now, as Gil Favor used to holler (and still does in re-run), “Head ’em up………move ’em out”.

You can bet that an Ulcerative Colitis patient would love potty talk. :0)

Cancer? I just hate being too tired to go out riding with my wife.

Too funny, Lainy. Unfortunately, I know what you are going through with U.C.
I look back and wonder how I ever made it through (sanity wise). My 20’s and 30’s are practically defined by my ability to memorize where all of the restrooms were wherever I went. Maybe that trial prepared me for the new trial.

    Lainy,

The biggest creators of triglycerides in the blood are sugars, not fats. Triglycerides then go on to manufacture cholesterols. I used to be a “pop-aholic”. I had triglyceride levels that would make the stock market proud. I quit the “sugar dosing” and the levels dropped a long long ways.

They prescribed statins to me following my stroke……..even though my cholesterol levels were not high. They said it would help prevent further strokes. I’m glad to be off of them.

Thanks, PCL, for this statement. I could not agree more. FIND A REASON to get a scan.

After my stroke in November, Doctors immediately put me on statins to help prevent recurrence. Well, First of January, my liver enzymes all of a sudden jumped way up. Oncologist took me off of them and will re-check liver enzymes this Friday to see if the levels went down. I sure hope so.

Words cannot express the joy and happiness when the love of family comes together.

    You were truly blessed.

    Eriq,

My prayers are with you as you fight to get the pain under control. Personally, I’m a huge wimp when it comes to pain. Good luck with your trip as well. My wife thought a nice 2 week trip would be great for me, so we are going in april, probably. Never been away for 2 weeks. I just pray that I feel well so that I can enjoy it. Listening to the waves on a beach is very very “healing” to me. I should have been born on the coast. :0)

    Good luck, young man.

The trail is frought with rocks, thorns, brush, scorching sun and occasionally we get pushed off the trail. But remember, the trail will get us where we want to go if we only keep following it. Got to keep your nose pointed up the trail.

God bless you and your family, Maria.

Goodheartedmommy, sounds like my story parallels yours. I was diagnosed last summer after getting scanned for kidney stones. Gem/Cis did not seem to work for me either and I’m waiting to see if I can have radioembolization as well.

Godspeed, and just love your Dad a whole lot.

Welcome, Richard. Just wanted to throw my $.02 in and say that my thoughts and prayers are with you. My first try at chemo did nothing either. Right now, my cancer is in the liver with some enlarged lymph nodes.Fortunately, no other organs involved at this time. I am going to give radioembolization a try next month to see if we can knock down what is going on in the liver, then we will decide what to do about the lymph nodes.

Vacation might not happen until end of March or into April. We talked with interventional radiologist today and discussed both radio and chemo embolization. He suggested doing the radio first, so I am considering that. We’re trying to get a handle on why my liver enzymes spiked suddenly last week. They were still up today. They aren’t terribly high………Doctor said on the “Low” side of high.(in the 200’s). Bilirubin still normal.

Really looking forward to this 3-day weekend.
