Oh duke, if u only knew. I am ways being told what an awful patient I am but I went out of my way to be a better one this time. I must say I am putting my energy elsewhere right now and could use all your love and support and gooD energy as well. My aunt came to be with me but suddenly had to leave bc my uncle apparently collapsed on the beach by their house and had a massive heart attack. They put him in a medical induced coma, and he is on a ventilator. These 2 are like a second set of parents to me. I love then with all I got. please keep them in your thoughts and send them whatever you feel is appropriate for you. I’d much appreciate it. Thank you!!!!!
all is great with me, everything is good and I will be discharging tomorrow. Blessings and hugs.

Hi guys I’m kinda of in nodding off land. In hospital. Second day post op. I’m good. Recovering well. Two lesions were removed and were indeed cancer :(, but there happened to be be nothing wrong with my intestines so all they did was clean up in there and worked on those adhesions. So I’m falling asleep while I’m writing this but will check in again tom. Overall wonderful news, cancer was removed and we got clear margins. thanks for all the love and support. Hugs and blessings to all.

Hi guys. Thanks so much. I met with surgeon today. Feeling a bit, well let’s be frank, etremely anxious. Surgeon informed me there is 2 little lesions and now been informed that with the intestines the likely cause is scar tissue but could be a possibility that it’s cancer knudged in there that could be causing the friction. If that is the case during surgery they will find out and resect that part of the bowel. They seem optimistic that is not the case. They are guessing about 6 hours for surgery which sounds more appealing to me than the last 15 hour one ;) I am so grateful for all of you and thank you for the support. Porter

Can they remove an entire pancreas? Can one live without one? Sorry, I feel like these are dumb questions but these questions came to my mind say if one had pancreatic cancer or mets in their pancreas, can the whole thing come out? I was under the impression all of a pancreas could not be removed.

All of a pancreas can be removed? I have never heard that before. That is good to know! Lainy, I liked your response. Well said!

Hi Serena I had my surgery of January last year. It was pretty invasive. I have had pain/bloating etc, ever since. Though I just found out most of this is due to my scar tissue and it’s manipulating my intestines so that is what is causing my pain and even bloating they said. Though this pain feels different that the constant intermittent pain I was feeling this entire past year. From what I gather it appears for most of us pain is pretty common after such a big surgery and can remain common. You know I thought when I was done recovering and such that I was just be bam, back to normal up and at em. And though I am young, 35, I realize I will never have a new normal and will probably deal with some sort of discomfort for the rest of my life. And there is nothing I can change about this and just learning to accept that I have a new normal. :)

Just for clarification, what is the difference between a Whipple or resection?

Hi Anne-Marie, we are in similar situations. I had a resection last January and about to go for a second resection next week. This time my lesion is much smaller and is on the opposite side of my liver than the last time. Did they confirm after your second resection that the lesion was indeed cancer?
Well blessings and hugs to you, you’ve been through a lot and I am very happy that you were able to have your surgeries and now healing and living your life to the fullest.

well I am somewhat disappointed that they are just going off assumption and not known facts at this point. Are they going to wait and see what you PET says? What if there is no spread, would they still want you to do the chemo and then take out? And if that’s the case why can’t they take out if it could come out now and then do adjuvant chemo? I am sure these are all questions that you most likely have asked already. I am hopeful for you and I am not assuming the worst! I am the worst at staying positive for myself, but great at offering support and being optimistic and positive for others! You will be in my prayers. Take care.

Hi Matt I wish you luck on your next week appointments. Is Mayo just assuming that this has spread and that is why they won’t currently operate? And this is just based on an assumption rather than tests/images? I wish nothing but the best for you and please keep up posted on your latest updates. Blessings and take care.

Kris I think the medical term is intussusception and i think i have a better understanding. Scar tissue manipulating the intestines and they are sliding in and out of one another, or like I said engulfing. Surgeon is back in the country and everything was confirmed today. I have my pre op office visit Tuesday and surgery Wednesday. I think I will be more comfortable about the surgery after my office visit and I am able to talk to her more about the procedure and what it will entail. I do know that this time this lesion is on the complete opposite of the liver compared to last time. My new tumor marker came in as well at my “usual” hospital and it is back to 10. So the last one as they thought was most likely just a variability error. Both of my parents have passed and so my Aunt is coming up for this, as she did last year. My plan next year is to get together with my family and have us all doing something fun rather than just coming together at times like these! But thanks everyone. I will keep you posted. Hospital 4-7 days and guessing as of now 4-6 weeks recovery time. Blessings to all. <3
