    Hi Everyone:

My friends are all donating money to this foundation in memory of my son.
How will I be notified of the amount and from who? Can I see it online?

I would like to know how to put this question of the discussion board.

    To all:

My one and child 45 year old single son died this morning after only 4 months of having this disease. He was very brave and courageous and lasted seven days on hospice. I miss him so much but I have faith that GOD took him as he suffered enough. Lets all pray that this cancer will have a cure someday or a cancer fighting drug that could have saved my son’s life. Thanks to all for your messages. I would like to put this message on the berevement page but don’t know how. Can someone help me post it there.

    To All:

My son who is 45 years old has only a few days to live. He has CC since Novemer and I wished that I had taken hin to a Cancer center in NYC.I believed in the local doctor and the oncologize who gave Patrick 6 treatments of gemzar. He was so sick that he lost 50lbs on this chemo treatment. My son was so weak that I didn’t get a second openion for a resection of the tumor as I didn’t know where it is. I hate the gasto doctors and the oncologist doctors who did not informed me to go to a cancer center where my son could have had chemical trials, I have a lot of momey that has got to keep this disease broght to attention in this country. So my son stop taken the chemo because it was making him too sick and weak to go to another second opinion and I got no help from the oncolotist from the beginning that this was a diseae that was more than she coul handle. Four months of suffering for my son and for John and I as his parents. People who come out with this disease must be warned that GENZAR AND CISPLITIN DO not work for this disease. I should have let my son enjoyed his 2 months on quality life he would have had and would be dead by now. I want to write in the local papers what terrible care he got at Samairtian Hospital in Troy, NY. I left my son on Monday night in such terible pain as the 5 liters of water that was in his chest was drained and was having the hicups for 7 hours without relief or meds.He stomach looked liked he had a baketball in him. Tuesday morning he was on hospice. Lovely lopspice told me before I walked in the room to see my son that he would propably never be able to talk to me again. Something happen and they put him on continous drip of dillotin, starting at 1.5 yesterday which is up to3 mg. per hour.He has has no food or water in three days. He is just being drug to death by the drugs are going in his body like herione and this is the comfort of care. My son has sleep for 48 hours and was given 4mg of dilation tonight every hour. I know they just want to drug him to death!! My son is out of his mind with these drugs, no food, or water. He won’t open his and doesn’t know me. They are treateing him like he is 80 years old. I wanted to share this message for people who think that hospice is great for this disease but its not and do not use any chemo. My son’s stomach has distended so much that he has a basketball and fluid is coming in aagain.
any ADVICE FOR ME TO DO. i GUESS THAT i MUST ACCEPT HIS DEATH, BUT WISH THAT i GOT THE RESULTS FROM A cANCER hOSPITALdO YOU THINK HE
TOOATE TO SEND RECORDS TO dR. fONG aT sLOANE mEMERIAL.

    Dear Lainy & PCL1029:

Thank you for your posts and giving me some good words that there wasn’t anything I could have done to save his life. We had snow today in Troy,NY and my son wanted to get the snowblower going. He did about a couple of feet of the driveway and had to give it up. He was totally exhausted. He weight 190 lbs last winter and was strong. It broke my heart to see him almost an invalid now. Hospice here will only sent a nurse in when we call and he would need the morphine pump. Taking care of my son is all I want to do. He has lived in an apartment in our house for many years and I saw him everyday even just to say hello and have depended on him to do everything for me. So its time I stay strong for him and ask the Lord to please take him to a good place where he won’t suffer. When he can’t move anymore, I will call hospice as we have already talked to them. I am in such terrible pain for the loss of his future and mine without him.I pray that there will be more medical attention brought to this disease.

    To All:

My son is dying. He was told by his oncologist today that he has three weeks more to live as his stomach has fluid and the cancer is growing and I better get hospice care. My husband I are the caretakers of our son and will keep him on his meds until the day he can’t stand the pain. He went from a strong healthy son who didn’t drink, smoke and did exercise. I have been driving myself crazy how he got this disease and how long ago.
He had lower and chest pain and thought it was an ulcer before he went to his primary doctor in October but it took 15 days to see a gastro doctor.

I made a big mistake by trusting the doctors in this town and never taking him to a cancer center. Its all too late. He did have a bad liver and pancreas, and his gastro doctors told him on November 9th that he was a point where he could not be operated on. He went thru 6 treatments of Gemzar and lost 60lbs in the hospital where he was most of the time due to his chemo treatments that never worked and made him so sick and weak. Why don’t the oncologist just stop the chemo! It doesm’t work for this cancer. I am losing my only child at only 45. I will blame myself forever for not going to a cancer center the day he was told he had bile duct cancer, and I will never know how he got it or when. I was told from the beginning to get a second opinion but his oncologist told me today that it wouldn’t have mattered. I found this site too late to do the research that has been provided here.

I have asked for donations be made to this site in his memory.

I am very interested in the Y-90 operation. My son is 45 and was told last week that chemo didn’t work and he still has a tumor in his bile ducts. The tumor is getting bigger. I have been to doctors here in Albany,NY who do the y90 procedure. My son has given up and has decided that he will be dead in two months as that is what hospice and his oncologist told him. I am trying to convince him that he may get more time in his life, but as long as he has that tumor that can’t be operated on, he thinks he is finish. I would like to know how you make out with the y-90. My son’s liver is fully mestized.

    PeggyP;

I am interested in which Cancer Center your husband was sent to: Pat’s oncologist told my son that he had 2 months at the most. His tumor has gotten bigger and no operation can be done. Was your husband’s liver comprimised and did he have pancreas lymph nodes. What type of treatment did he take? I have to work quickly to see if I can get help for him.
    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

This was one of my worse days of my life. After being told by his oncogist and gasto doctor that my son had 3 to 6 months to live, I couldn’t believe it. I finally sent my son’s (45 and single and only child) medical records to the top surgeon in the Albany,NY area. She told me that there is no chance for the tumor to be removed. His oncologist did a CT scan this morning but my son is really too week to do any more chemo. He had six treatments of Gemzar. He went from 200lbs down to 140lbs as he has nauseamost of the time and vomits all his food. My husband and I met with hospice today. I know my son has given up and is ready to die and will not go to John Hopkins but I am going to donate a lot of money for them to do more research on this disease and find a treatment that will prevent another parent losing her husband or adult child to this disease. It finally dawn on me today how important it is to watch your older children’s health no matter how old they are. My son must have had this disease last spring but never got to the primary care physician till Occtober.
He never complained of pain and had night sweats. Only thought he had an ulcer. My prayers to everyone affected with this terrible cancer. God must have decided it is his time to come home. I am glad I was able to write my feelings on this site.

I need help posting my son’s history on this website. I don’t know how to start on the introduction section so I was looking thru all the post on chemo. I have located a local doctor who could patch up some of my son’s liver but there is no guarentee that the cancer will stop. I was told by his oncologist that Gemzar and Cisplaitin may stop the progressing on the tumor. I was told by the gasto doctor that there is no way that a surgeon would even attempt to remove the tumor because his cancer is stage 4, has lots of cancer in his liver, pancreas problems. He is on drugs constandly for his pain and he just wants to die. My son did 3 sessions – 2 were with cisplatin but his kidneys had problems so the last session was only Gemzar. I don’t know where to turn. I have called his oncolgist and asked for a CT scan. She told me that my son would needf two more session before she would do a CT scan. I don’t believe that the chemo has helped him as he has been sick since he started the chemo. I intend to donate money to research of this disease to John Hopkins, and to this web site. I would like my post be provided to everyone, but just don’t how to do it.

I am a new member. My name is Rachel and the mother of a single and only son named Patrick who is also 45. He also was diagnosis with Stage 4 bile duct cancer. His tumor is unoperable as his liver is metastatic. He had 3 treatments of Gemzar and Cisplatin and 3 treatment of just Gemzar. He is been in the hospital five times since his diagnosis on November 18th. He has decided to quit chemo and go to hospice. He has given up as he lost 50lbs in 3 months, can’t eat without vomiting. I am looking for one last chance for him to survive. Is there anything I can do?My heart is broken to see him suffer anymore so I told him he can go on hospice. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I am new to this website. My son who is 45 has been on Gemzar for six treatments and has been very ill. He has decided to quit Chemo. According to the doctors he has, there is nothing that can be done to remove the tumor. He has lost 50 lbs since November 18th, the day he was told that he was terminal. My question now is, why did his oncologist put him on Gemzar in the first place. We did not get a 2nd opinion at a major cancer center. My son has decided to go on hospice. I think he has no hope to live anymore with the nausea and vomiting that happem with the chemo or it could be the cancer. He is my only child and he wants me to let him go. I am still interested in clinical trials but at this point, I don’t think he is strong enough to go thru another experience. What would you do if you were in my shoes?

    Rachel
