Thanks Percy. He is currently undergoing a gastroscopy/endoscopy. The junior doctor on duty mentioned to us that the liver scan/ultrasound showed dilation of the ducts in the liver.
I am awaiting the results of the endoscopy and then they are doing an MRCP/MRI on Thursday, I really am not sure why the delay but I am at their mercy. Will keep you updated. Thanks to everyone.

Thank you Pam, Lisa and Sarasota, On Monday they are doing an MRI MRCP and then as Sarasota mentioned they may do an ERCP but in my husband’s case it may not be an ideal situation as he has had the whipples surgery and his whole anatomy is altered. Tonight he is itching, I am wondering if it was the shrimp he tried to eat. Hopefully if they can get a stent in than may be it may help resolve his problems at least temporarily. Thanks for all your prayers and well wishes. Hope Lauren improves each day. All the best and Godbless. Pru (Phil)

Thanks Lainy and Marions, you give me so much courage. as I am at my wits end. it is definitely burping (big loud ones – sounds terrible). I will ask today if they can involve the surgical team. Everything is done very slowly, that is what is discouraging me. Its been 8 months since I informed them that things are not ok. The Medical staff sometimes wait for issues to escalate before they do something, if they looked into these symptoms earlier may be we could have nipped it in the bud. Sorry I am just going crazy. Thanks for all your kindness pru(phil)

Thank you Lainy (Elaine) and Percy. I feel so much better that I can discuss these issues with you. My hubby is in a bad state, had a very bad night yesterday, severe digestive problems, though I gave him an antacid. He just could not sleep. I do hope you understand if I am slow in replying. I do have 3 young sons and they are on school holidays. I strongly believe in the grace of God, and hopefully things may get better. Godbless you all. Phil (Pru)

Update on my husband after the MRI and the second opnion 9 June 2011

We had an MRI on Tuesday 7/6/11, the report was sent to our Oncologist, who sent us a copy of the report stating that there was no definite lesions. Note prior to the MRI, the PET scan showed a solitary periportal hypermetabolic abnormality suspicious for tumour recurrence. However the MRI report mentions that there are lesions on the liver and this could be benign. We are totally confused.

On the 9/6/11 we went for the second opinion, I must say the bedside manner of this Biliary Surgeon was really good but the prognosis similar to the first one. He said that with extrahepatic CC they give the patient one good operation

Hi Marions, thanks so much I do like the “Caregiver’s Bill of Right (CBOR) It does become a bit difficult at times with my 3 young sons, but I am trying to exercise this (CBOR). Now I am re-assured after reading about your husband that it is normal for my husband to be overwhelmed by his condition. Tomorrow is the MRI and on Thursday is the second opinion. I am being positive and will post after my visit on Thursday. You see this site makes me smile, as there is so much warmth and kindness. Thank you all and Godbless Pru

Elaine (Lainy) and PCL, Many thanks for all your valuable information. I am extremely thankful. I cannot tell you how pleased I am that I am going to the Specialist with some important Q’s that I need answered with your assistance.

PCL, hope you are doing ok, you sound more like a doctor than a patient. I have still not found the “RFA-a case study of yourself” you did mention under the “radiation forum”, I will look for it. You seem so positive and I think this will pull you through. All the best to you, will say a special prayer for you. Thanks for all the handy hints. I will keep you posted after all the appointments.

I was so fearful and worried but the CC foundation has given me the strength to keep going on. Elaine (Lainy) and PCL thanks once again. I wish my husband can e-mail you PCL. At the moment he is very depressed. He does not do any research. I do all the research for him. He is always in Church, hopefully there may be a miracle.

Elaine(Lainy), you are my guardian angel. Thank you so much

    Hi,
Thanks for your reply, yes my husband is doing a PET scan next month as he had a CT scan 8 weeks back with contrast and it showed a swollen lymph node near the liver but according to the Oncologist he said that it may be nothing. The MRI sounds interesting I will check with the Oncologlist and will update you. My husband has extrahepatic CC (distal bile duct cancer). I am hoping that they have RFA in Australia. I am going crazy trying to cope but your reply has given me some hope. God bless — Phil

Thank you everyone for your support and assistance. It means so much to me. I am so happy that I signed up to the website. It feels so good.

I have taken all the handy hints with his diet, protein in-take etc. The links about nutrition and the books available. I am going to try BRATTY(Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, Tea, Toast and Yogurt). He takes Somac to assist with his digestion, it may be similar to Prevacid. The drug called Megace, sounds good I am not too sure if we get it in Australia but we may get something similar.

Janet…my husband had his operation in Westmead in Sydney. Thanks once again to everyone. All the best and will continue praying for all of you.
    Phil
