    To Lainy and Irene,

Irene….great idea. I already added it to the letter.

Lainy, I read your post and got the idea from you and decided to roll with it. What should we do? Should we all send the same letter to Oprah and everybody….Congressmen? News Stations

How do we get everyone on this site to get a copy of the letter we decide to send, sign it and get it mailed? Somebody else might write a better letter than mine. I am thinking it might be better if we all bombarded her with the letters instead of all of them in one because she probably has so many readers. I defer to you guys. You are the ones who keep me from crying not as often as before.

    My prayers for you all,
    Sophie

Yes, only now it’s called Mr. Pibb Extra. It’s not as good as Mr. Pibb. Remember Dr. Pepper in a bottle? Now there was a soda!

My prayers for all of you,

    Bill,

You said your wife Kathleen was treated with theraspheres. Do you mind my asking what insurance you have? Did they pay the entire amount? Thank you.

    Hello Queen Irene,

I agree with Kristin. No doubt you are worried about all this stuff, but they have tubes for everything and every situation. Don’t let yourself get crazy worrying about this stuff. Concentrate on building your strength. My big worry was how was should I wear P.J.’s or a nighty because the tubes would have to go through the sleeves or legs, and how was I going to walk around. Those 2 days I was in the hospital they threw on a gown in the back like a cape, and I might have looked like Wonder Woman, but I was decent. Are you downloading some Alison Krause on your MP3 player? Alison is so soothing.

I’m waiting for your surgery like I waited for my own and pray, pray, praying it is successful.

    My prayers for you,
    Sophie

How about a special hat shaped and colored like a liver with the bile duct tube directed to our mouths and flowing with WATER so we can stay hydrated? I want a coke! I want a Sprite! I want my favorite- Mr. Pibb! Sometimes I feel if one more person asked me if I’m hydrated, I’m going to snatch every hair from his/her head.

My prayers for all of you,
    Sophie

    Dear BarbaraAnn,

I can only repeat the good wishes and prayers everyone has already responded. I have learned that I’m not going to listen to any of my doctors’ prognosis viewpoints for me. I hope so much you get some good news, and your father is having some better days.

My prayers for you and your family,

    Hey Lisa and Irene,

Lisa, I’m planning a beach trip too. I like to stay at the Blue Sea Inn in San Diego. It’s right on the beach, and I like walking along the boardwalk….not to mention watchng all the very UNUSUAL people also walking on the boardwalk. I’m amazed at the octegenarians in two pieces jetting along on a pair of skates. I’m pretty impressed too actually.

Irene, are you pumping some iron to build up for that upcoming (ahem) procedure? I’m thinking of you each day.

Did I tell you guys I’m going to be a grandma for the first time in January? I’ve been waiting to be a grandma for so long.

Why didn’t somebody tell me that oxycodone (sp) would make me feel like I felt before I knew I had cc? It makes me feel so happy.

So many prayers for all of you wonderful people

Hello, you found a wonderful site, but I’m sorry it had to be under these circumstances. Most of the other warriors on this site have a wealth of information, and they have been so many places. They also are pretty savy about cc hospitals and great cc doctors, but I can tell you the 4 best rated cancer hospitals in the U.S.

    MD Anderson – Houston, Texas
Memorial Sloan Kettering – New York, New York
    Johns Hopkins – Baltimore, MD
    Mayo Clinic – Rochester, Minnesota

I’m going to seek out a second opinion on Stanford Cancer Center because they invented the Cyberknife.

My best wishes for your father and your family, and, of course, prayers for you.

    Irene,

I woke up mouthing the word resection, resection, and the nurse knew what I meant and hated to tell me “they couldn’t do it.” I’d try for it all over again if I could. I’m glad you have the opportunity. It could reoccur, but IT MIGHT NOT TOO!!!!!!! Let’s keep that last thought on the spring board.

I’d prepare by getting some exercise (walking) and tons of deep breathing several times a day. I’d also be working on that nutrition with supplements and maybe some smoothies that promote immunity or some shakes like Ensure. My liver surgeon said he wanted me to GAIN weight. (Har! I’ve never heard that one before.) I think most of our friends on this site know more about nutrition than I do, but that’s how I would start. And I’d listen to alot of Alison Kraus CD’s.

When is the big day? And may I add and certainly not making light of this situation, “You go, girl.”

I like your closing….strength to us all ….

My prayers for all of you,
    Sophie

Dear Patty, I am so very sorry and sad for you that you lost your mom. Your mom struck up a conversation with strangers in K-Mart. My mom would wear a different wig everyday…different wig style….different color. (I was mortified!) I’d tell her to try to stick to the same color. Perhaps as time goes by, and you feel stronger, you can make a scrapbook for each of the nieces and nephews about your beloved mom so they can know how wonderful their grandma was and how much she loved them.

My prayers for you and your family, Patty.

    Thank you, Irene

We may be kindred spirits, Irene. When I first got diagnosed, I dug out my daughter’s Anne of Green Gables books and then dug out my Mitford series. I needed all that goodness and spirituality. Right now I’m just not sure of anything…what to do…who to turn to…which doctor. I always do better when there is a plan. Sometimes I get really scared reading this site, Irene; sometimes I cling to it.

    My prayers for all,

I shall insist, “Dr. I have it upon extreme authority that you must give me a CAT scan every 3 months or else.”

    Dear Katie,

From what I’ve read about Barb and read on her posts, she must have been a unique person with such a zest for life even throughout her battle with cc. I pray that Luis and your family have comfort and peace in your hearts during the time ahead.

    My prayers for you,
    Sophie
