Well, I don’t know what to say…if there is a word more fierce than Devastated, that is what my husband and I are. Bad, Bad news…He is home with me now where he wishes to be until his final days. The chemo treatments did nothing to help; the blood clots in his lungs are causing him to have those breathing problems that he is having and the cancer in the pancreas is after increasing rather than decreasing.
If any of you can help to direct me to some good information as to what I can expect…I know every person is different….the phases that our dear ones go through, I would appreciate it so very much.
I am so afraid of what is to come, but I have to keep him home with me where he will be more comfortable.

Hi Julie (Iowagirl)…this has been the worst day of all of the ones we have had since late April. the result from the scan showed blood clots in both of my dear one’s lungs, the chemo treatment that he is receiving has not worked and the cancer has not decreased but increased. Our worlds are shattered…Spent a lot of the day crying and trying to come to grips with all of this. How in God’s name could this happen so suddenly????
He is on Lovenox 200ml a day now and I really don’t know if this will change or if another type of chemo will be given.

Thanks so much for replying, I appreciate every word that is written to me but please keep him in your prayers.

Hi to All, My dear hubby was admitted to hospital yesterday and has had an ultra sound to discover that there are large blood clots in both legs. A body scan was done today and will see if there is/are any in the lung as he is having such a difficult time breathing. He is being treated with a large dose of blood thinner now.
Please keep him in your prayers..Thanks….Anne

bTW, Iowagirl, we learned today that the lower back pain is severe arthritis.

Dear Iowagirl, may I asked what was done for you regarding the leg swelling and shortness of breath? My hubby and I spent the majority of the day at the hospital again. There is no fluid buildup on the lungs or heart. Kidney function is perfect. I asked that he be admitted to hospital so that he could be monitored to see what is happening, that we are worried about blood clots…the reply was as he is taking lovenox there is nothing that can be done otherwise and that the Cancer is causing this…that my hubby would have to get used to those things happening from time to time. I thought the Dr. Was way too blunt with not a word of encouragement. After plying more, I was successful in having a full body scan done in the morning. His blood work is good for chemo tomorrow. He is a determined man, bless his heart. He is really disappointed tonight and my heart bleeds for him. Thanks again and sorry for the long LETTER I have written.

Lainy, your 2 cents worth are welcome anytime and I do appreciate it. Great minds think alike, as the saying goes, as I have plans in the morning to call the hospital and see if I can indeed have someone look at my hubby. I am not sure if his system will take another treatment feeling as he is right now.
Bless you for answering. You know I am grasping on to every thing that I can possibly find.
    Thanks so much.

Bless you, Iowagirl, that makes complete sense to me. The back pain is not severe. Supposed blood work tomorrow to be ready for another chemo treatment on Tuesday; however, he just seems too weak to be able to make it. I really am puzzled as to what to do in this case.
Thank You so much…you will never know how much I appreciate this.

Hi All, it is me again…I took my hubby to emergency today with fierce swelling in his feet and legs, lower back pain and no strength to even make it to our vehicle, which is a very short distance from our house; therefore, I had an ambulance come to take us. Blood work, X-rays, etc. we’re done with no sign of any issues. He was given a lasix shot but have not lost any fluid worth mentioning. I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem and can enlighten me in any way. Thank you all.

Thanks, Marion’s….it looks that way right now. If no improvement in the morning, it will have to be a visit to the hospital. I have Cancer care people who can help. I appreciate your input. Bless you.

To be honest with you, Marion’s, I do not know. Information has been vague thus far. I hope to learn more from the oncologist on the 18 th of August. I am really worried tonight as my hubby has back pain that came on all of a sudden. Not sure what this means.

Thanks, again, Lainy….I am sorry that you lost your dear one. I am new to this site and have not had much time to look around to see what others have been through and Yes, we are optomistic…I will google Live Flukes to see what it is all about.

Thanks so much for your reply, Lainy. My husband is 67 years old and is receiving chemo treatments of Gem/Cis….he has 5 finished and after the 6th, there will be a Scan and a week later a Video Conference with his Oncologist. I am just so fearful of the outcome of this…After his treatments, he has to take steroids for three days during which he has some energy but after that, he is so weak and tired it is frightening. He was a man who worked the land from daylight to dark up to the time he became ill. Our gardens were organically grown, thinking we were eating healthy, etc. Such a shock to discover this!!!! I just wonder if he has a chance with this treatment….I know no one can tell us that for sure. We have to live in hope.
