The ICRN is a global collaboration of research groups from renowned institutions that are working in concert to improve knowledge about cholangiocarcinoma etiology, prevention, early detection, treatment and prognosis. The network is comprised of highly talented individuals from a spectrum of disciplines, perspectives, and research methods who share the passion to make significant scientific advances that improve outcomes for patients with cholangiocarcinoma.

ICRN Working Groups
The ICRN Working Groups help us to better coordinate our research efforts.
  • Leadership: Dr. Milind Javle and Dr. Mitesh Borad provide overall direction of the ICRN including clinical trials, Industry Forum, Asia-Pacific Conference, and publications.
  • Surgical: Dr. Yun Shin Chun and Dr. Flavio Rocha spearhead efforts in surgical translational research.
  • Clinical Research: Dr. Laura Goff leads the clinical data sharing for collaborative research.
  • Genomic Research: Dr. Lipika Goyal leads genomic research initiatives.
  • International collaboration: Dr. John Bridgewater and Dr. Virote Sriuranpong recruit Asian, European and other international centers for collaborative research.
  • Biorepository: Dr. Lewis Roberts and Dr. Milind Javle coordinate the ICRN tissue and blood banking repository.
  • Administration: Dr. Reham Abdel-Wahab and Donna Mayer provide oversight of budgets, grants, meetings, ICRN website and newsletters.

Dr. Shishir K. Maithel
We would like to welcome our newest ICRN Executive Committee Member - Dr. Shishir K. Maithel, MD, FACS. He is an Associate Professor of Surgery in the Division of Surgical Oncology, Department of Surgery at Emory University School of Medicine. As Scientific Director of the Emory Liver and Pancreas Center, he leads the clinical / translational research program in the Division of Surgical Oncology, which focuses on identifying tumor specific molecular biomarkers as predictors of outcome and chemotherapeutic response for hepatobiliary tumors. Dr. Maithel is also Director and National Principal Investigator of the U.S. Extrahepatic Biliary Malignancy Consortium, and is an active member and study lead in the Central Pancreas Consortium.
