Other ways to show your support

Every contribution, regardless of size, makes a difference and is an investment in education, research, and advocacy to find a cure for cholangiocarcinoma. The Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation depends upon your support to continue this important work.

On Your Mark” is named in memory of Mark Clements, who ran the St. George Marathon in southern Utah. As a lifetime athlete, Mark decided to run his first marathon because he wanted a challenge. During the training program, he began to experience frequent abdominal discomfort. Once he completed the marathon and the abdominal pains didn’t stop, tests showed that Mark had cholangiocarcinoma.

Before Mark passed in 2007, his heartfelt desire was to ease the pathway for others experiencing this cancer which in turn led to the creation of CCF.

You can be part of easing the pathway, too, by running alongside Mark’s vision and dedicating at least $20 a month to directly benefit research and patient programs. Your monthly gift, given automatically through your checking account or credit/debit card, will enable you to provide the funds needed to continue racing toward a cure. As a part of this program, you will enjoy being a part of a dedicated team with special incentives.

If you’re looking for new ways to support the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation, workplace giving may be a great option for you and your team.

Workplace giving is easy, effective, and has a tremendous impact. By participating in your employer’s workplace giving programs, you will help support patients by providing them with up-to-date information on treatment options and advance the research necessary to find a cure.

The simplest way to contribute is through a payroll deduction program. If your company already has a program in place, ask to have the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation added to their list of eligible nonprofits. If your company doesn’t have a program, please consider asking them to create one!

Some companies also offer a matching gift program where they match your gift and double the impact of your support to the Foundation. Check here to see if your company has a program.

If your Human Resources Department has any questions or needs any forms from the Foundation to start a workplace giving campaign, please contact Laurie Kikel at laurie.kikel@curecca.org.

Our partners share our passion for accelerating progress and improving patient outcomes. By supporting the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation, Industry partners drive progress while strengthening bonds with their stakeholders, clients, and communities. You may need to plan for additional assets not covered in your will or trust. If you have an IRA, 401(k), life insurance policy, or any additional accounts, these are called “non-probate assets” and they need to be planned for separately. Using the online tool linked below, you can log all of your assets, name the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation or a loved one as a beneficiary, and receive printable instructions on how to set it up.

Memorial donations can be made in lieu of flowers, and the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation can personally assist you by designing a personalized fundraising page on our website to honor your loved one, allowing your family and friends to make tax-deductible donations directly to benefit cholangiocarcinoma research and patient services.

The Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation will issue a letter of thanks to all donors, which will serve as a full tax-deductible receipt. CCF can also provide you with a list of memorial donors for you to acknowledge personally if desired.

If you are over 70.5, giving from your IRA helps you reduce your taxable income — and for those who must take a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD), an IRA gift is a simple way to fulfill it while supporting patients and funding research.

We have invested in a secure IRA donation tool to make it easier to give to the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation directly from your IRA and receive tax benefits. It only takes a few minutes to use and will auto-complete your paperwork.

Benefits of an IRA charitable rollover:

  • Avoid taxes on transfers of up to $105,000 from your IRA to our organization
  • May satisfy your required minimum distribution (RMD) for the year
  • Reduce your taxable income, even if you do not itemize deductions
  • Make a gift that is not subject to the deduction limits on charitable gifts
  • Help further the work and mission of our organization

How an IRA charitable rollover gift works:

  • Contact your IRA plan administrator to make a gift from your IRA to us.
  • Your IRA funds will be directly transferred to our organization to help continue our important work.
  • Please note that IRA charitable rollover gifts do not qualify for a charitable deduction.
  • Please contact us if you wish for your gift to be used for a specific purpose.

Many individuals contribute to the Foundation through gifts of stock or other types of securities from public companies. The Foundation benefits by distributing dividends and/or liquidating the assets at fair market value.

The Foundation has invested in a secure stock donation tool to make it easier than ever to donate your stock directly to the Foundation. It only takes a few minutes to use and will auto-complete your paperwork.

Benefits of gifts of stocks and bonds:

  • Receive a charitable income tax deduction
  • Further our mission today

How to make a gift of stocks and bonds:

By electronic transfer – Please contact us for instructions on how you can transfer stock or bonds from your brokerage or investment account to Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation.

By certified mail – If you hold securities in certificate form, you will need to mail two envelopes separately to complete your gift. In the first envelope, place the unsigned stock certificate(s). In the other envelope, include a signed stock power for each certificate. You may obtain this power from your broker or bank. Please remember to use certified mail.

More on gifts of stocks and bonds

There are special rules for valuing a gift of stock. The value of a charitable gift of stock is determined by taking the mean between the high and low stock price on the date of the gift. Mutual fund shares are valued using the closing price for the fund on the date of the gift.
