Michelle's Hot Peeps Beat CC Races Toward A Cure
The 7th Annual Michelle’s Hot Peeps Beat CC 5K Fun Run took place on August 10 at Murphy Park in Taylor, Texas. The race, initiated to raise funds and awareness of cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer), has become a community staple. For the last seven years, it has brought members of the Taylor community together on a Saturday morning in August, a day of fun and remembrance in honor of Michelle McDonald.
The event raised over $13,000 this year, bringing the cumulative total to over $80,000 in support of CCF’s research and patient support services. When reflecting upon the day, John McDonald, Michelle’s husband and the race organizer, shared, “Our outreach found a local man diagnosed last year with cholangiocarcinoma. He and his family participated in our event but knew nothing about CCF or our event until he read our article advertising the event in the local newspaper. Now, he has all the resources of the Foundation to help him in his journey. Michelle’s Hot Peeps Beat CC 5K Fun Run–reaching one person at a time.”
John is already busy planning next year’s event, scheduled for August 9, 2025! To learn more about how you can support Michelle’s Hot Peeps, please follow Hot Peeps on social media here.
