President’s Message

Fall is upon us and change is in the air. Change is happening rapidly at CCF and we are thrilled to see so many exciting opportunities emerging.

Since our last newsletter we have welcomed two new members to our Board of Directors: Lillie Chen and Jason Scott. We also welcomed a new Executive Director, Donna Mayer.

Our Medical Advisory Committee has evolved into three active groups consisting of a Medical Advisory Board, Clinical Science Advisory Board, and Basic Science Advisory Board.  We are ever grateful for all those who have chosen to serve with us.

We will continue our partnership with the Conquer Cancer Foundation to offer the Young Investigator Award (YIA) and for the first time, the Foundation has established a  fellowship program aimed at supporting early career researchers focusing on basic and translational studies in cholangiocarcinoma.

Planning for the 2015 Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation Annual Conference is underway. The conference will be chaired by Dr. Milind Javle, from MD Anderson and will be attended by physicians and researchers from major cancer centers in the US as well as Asia and the UK.  The meeting continues to grow and expand upon our collaborative efforts to accelerate research and treatment options for the global patient community.

We have been blessed with amazing volunteers, many of them patients and caregivers who have chosen to freely give of their time and talents to assist others. This has been one of the hallmarks of  CCF ~ wonderful, caring, selfless service and we could not do it without them.

An enormous thanks to all who have contributed and continue to contribute to the efforts we are making to assist patients and move both the basic and translational research forward. We are making a difference.
