Lainy and Teddy,
All I can add is that you have such courage and strength for this journey. You both seem to be handling things very well. And you do have a tremendous extended family here wishing you both the best in this final travel for you both. Keep up the laughter and good thoughts too. What memories you are building!
All my prayers and best wishes.
Linda
August 31, 2010 at 9:54 am #41059gavinModeratorHi Kris,
Lisa is right in that when you are alone and feeling the darkness creeping in, remember that you have so many friends here thinking of you and only wishing good things for you.
Here’s a great big Scottish hug for you.

August 31, 2010 at 9:49 am #41058gavinModeratorHi Lainy,
I am glad to hear you say that you are okay, and thank goodness for paper plates, what a great idea! And I hope that you stick to your guns with regards to you not cooking for everyone as it sounds like there are plenty of peeople around to keep bringing in the evening meal and stuff. And you are so right about time being valuable and how it is time that should be enjoyed right now. Wasted time is not good.
Also glad to hear that Teddy’s attitude is still great, as it has been for so long and lets hope that that continues. Yes I know what you mean about having some decent days then some not so good days or moments, my dad was the same and he would bounce back from the bad days and I am sure that Teddy will do the same as he has such a good attitude.
Sounds like you both had another full on day yesterday and I hope it went well. Hopefully today will be another decent day for you both. You take care my friend.
Hugs to you both.
Gavin

August 30, 2010 at 7:43 pm #41056kimmieSpectatorHugs and prayers to Teddy and Lainy, to Kris… to everyone affected by CC.
We are ALL ABOUT paper products these days, both at my sister’s where Mom is on hospice, and here at my own house when I’m here. My 11 and 9 year olds give me a really hard time – “We’re putting too much in the landfills MOM!” I say wouldn’t you rather we spend more time together instead of me spending time washing dishes? Heck, I buy the cheapy-cheap paper plates anyway, not even wax-coated. They probably break down after one good rainstorm.
August 30, 2010 at 2:18 pm #41055devoncatSpectatorLainy,
That is the same attitude I am trying to have. Coming to terms with the end has been quite difficult and I wish I had your and Teddy’s strength. It is good to be around people. Unfortunately, Hans works so I am left alone during the day and that quiet time is when the darkness creeps in. It must be so wonderful for Teddy to have all his friends and family around bringing in the light to blind out the shadows.Strength and courage and love,
KrisAugust 30, 2010 at 1:12 pm #41054lainySpectatorHi Buddy! Sometimes life is so wierd. Teddy had 2 days that were really fairly decent and then yesterday afternoon was not that great. Its like, ‘ok here is a sample of how you would like him to be, oops sorry its over, here is how he really is’. We learn to look for the samples wishing we could buy a whole buschel of them. Attidude still great.
Today a lady is coming from the Church to give him communion at 830AM. A man who was the Potentate (President) of the Phoenix Shriners is coming to see him at 1000AM, Nurse Dawn at 1100AM, and then his daughter/son-in-law, sister and brother-in-law are still here. Daughter is picking up dinner tonight and bringing it in.
I really am ok. I have not done much in the way of meals and am using all paper goods. I look at this time to really enjoy having Teddy as I would rather look back and be happy about our valuable time than to look back and say, OMG we wasted our moments with sadness and crying and being angry.
Be well and happy, my friend.
August 30, 2010 at 10:28 am #41053gavinModeratorHi Lainy,
Sounds like you had a full on week last week and from what you say, this week also sounds full on again with all the guests. I hope that you are not getting too stressed out with them all? I m sure that Teddy will enjoy the visits from family and friends and my dad did too with his visits, especially if he was having a tough day. But just remember not to give in and start cooking for them all!
How’s Teddy doing today, and how are you doing?
Hugs to you both,
Gavin
August 29, 2010 at 3:39 am #41052lainySpectatorHey, thanks BZ. My daughter is at Elliott and Cooper. We went to Floridinos tonight for pasta, a wuick run and did it storm for about 10 minutes. I think I told you we are in Sun Lakes. Now I know why as it will rain in Chandler but not here and we are only 5 miles away. Thanks for the offer!!!
Marion and Kris you gals an come here anytime and I would kick all the rest out of the house!!August 28, 2010 at 11:56 pm #41051BazelSpectatorLainy,
Since I am probably all of 6 miles away, at Ocotillo and Lindsay, and I have two fully equipped guest rooms .. you could pretend to leave town but stay closeKris,
Summer is still very much here in the desert, this week will puch back up to 107 by Friday. But if you want a getaway, come on down! I think the pool has cooled off too much for night time swimming, but during the day it is refreshing. But just know that my two furry cats may make you feel a little too much at home. There’s a reason why I own a Dyson vacuum and buy lint rollers by the 6-pack!Bz
August 28, 2010 at 8:15 pm #41050marionsModeratorLainy…of course, I will come; just give me the time and date. Your house sounds like ours had been a few years ago. Relatives and friends occupied our lives and the energy filtered down to my husband. He was happy to feel special in a happy kind of way and there is something to be said for the sharing of time with laughter and stories from way back. It makes for good feelings for everyone involved.
Hugs to you a special one for my boyfriend Teddy.
MarionAugust 28, 2010 at 7:01 pm #4104932coupeSpectatorWish I could sit in on your ‘Broadway Review’ – we love Hello Dolly and Fiddler!! Musicals can be powerful medicine. God bless you dear lady for being a gracious host to Teddy’s people.
Prayers coming your direction,
bobAugust 28, 2010 at 6:07 pm #41048lisaSpectatorI love the Sound of Music!
August 28, 2010 at 2:26 pm #41047lainySpectatorThanks, girls. Teddy’s sister is Maria and all day yesterday Julie (T daughter who actually sounds like Barbra S) was singing “how do you solve a problem like Maria” from Sound of Music!!!!!!
August 28, 2010 at 1:48 pm #41046devoncatSpectatorMe, me, me. Can I come to visit? It will get me out of my nasty dirty flat. How does one flat get so dirty so fast? I think I could knit a whole nuther cat from the hair balls/ dusk bunnies under the furniture. Do you think they are plotting a take over?
I love musicals too. I really got teased in 9th grade when I broke down in class while watching Westside Story.
Try to enjoy all the time with your family. I am sure Teddy is loving it…even the drama queen. Sometimes focusing on some other drama is a refreshing break from your own.
Take care.
