grsharp….for the time being, the most accurate information focused on radiation can be found in the “Radiation” thread on our site. However; within the next few months we should receive data from one or more clinical research studies in regards to radiation plus chemo, proton therapy, and the efficacy of high dose radiation treatments.
Personally I am not aware of any Keytruda studies including the application of radiation. We must remember that Keytruda has not yet been approved for the treatment for cholangiocarcinoma patients harboring the PD-L1 expression. Several studies are underway.

MarionI don’t see much info here on radiation. The oncologists says with radiation lower doses of chemo can be administered.
Can Keytruda be used together with chemo and perhaps radiation?Percy left us with an unforgettable gift. In order to stay current with newer developments, newer developments should be collected here.
Immunotherpay
Targeted agent, not approved for cholangiocarcinoma, but can be prescribed “off label.”
Pembrolizumab (Keytruda) for patients whose disease has progressed after other treatments and with tumors that express the PD-L1 protein.
Keytruda works by targeting the cellular pathway known as PD-1/PD-L1 (proteins found on the body’s immune cells and some cancer cells). By blocking this pathway, Keytruda may help the body’s immune system fight the cancer cells.
Keytruda’s small molecules can penetrate the cell membrane to interact with targets inside a cell and are usually designed to interfere with the enzymatic activity of the target protein.

Asked about Xeloda again today. Told that although the cancer proved sensitive before it might be resistant to anothe treatment but the Gem/Cis has evidence to extend lie by 2-3 months although toughter regime. So, that’s the one being offered. Duke, will keep that in mind and continue to explore other options too. Over here if funding not given then it’s a fight to get the drugs and in the land of cc we don’t have time. What we can do though is hopefully help future patients diagnosed with this.
Will be starting in 2 -3 weeks if bloods ok.
Love to allangel-mar…..there is a good chance that Xeloda will be considered again unless of course you have reached drug resistance.

MarionOne data point. My first chemo was gem/cis. Onc went to gem/carboplatin before the second when I said the ringing in my ears increased. Ask about whether you should get a hearing test before starting – that way you would have something objective to compare against to see if there really is an impact on hearing.

I am searching through all of the chemo links that amazing Percy has put on the website. Time and energy means I’m asking this though am sure the answers are all there.
I am being offered Gemcitabine and cisplatin chemo. I have heard that Cemcitabine and Capicetabine (Xelolda) is as good with more tolerance. I already had Xeldo which has kept obvious scan results clear for 4 years. Any advice?
