Hi- Dr. Robert Buckman is an oncologist at MD Anderson. He has a special protocol for CC that they use for Ovarian Cancer- both being resistant to chemo. I don’t know if Dr. Buckman is a specialist in CC, but I do know that they use this protocol as a last resort. Good luck, my prayers are with you and your family.

We came back from the doctors this morning and yesterday’s MRI shows some new lesions and also growth in one of the “larger tumors” now about 3 cm. No lymph nodes, just mutiple small lesions, and no mets, all contained in liver. FOLFOX (5-FU, Oxaliplatin, Leucorvorin) did not prove to be too much use to my dad. Oncologist is suggesting we start with single Gemzar infusion 1000mg (1 hour), every week for 3 weeks, then 1 weeks rest and then monitor CA 19-9 levels to see response rate.

This is causing great strain on myself as really am worried for my dad. He is taking it much better than we all are, saying if Gemzar does not work, he wants to live life to its fullest and stop all treatment. I hate to say it, but I feel as if clock is ticking. Does anyone know any specialists treating CC at MD Anderson / Memorial Sloan Kettering who I could possibly get in touch with for some further opinions?

Anyone going through Gemzar infusions, how are the side effects? Appreciate the posts and thanks to all for continued support.
