Julie, well good news on numbers trending to where they need to be :) I feel ya. You know Im months now post chemo and I am still considered anemic have a low hemoglobin and RBC. My docs like to remind me how harsh chemo can affect certain peoples blood work and counts and as many months as i was on chemo, it might just take that long just to see certain numbers get back to where they need to be. Nothing alarming, just a couple things for me that are a tad under normal range. My liver enzymes bounced around all over the place during chemo too and a little after. Like your docs are trying to reassure you, I am almost certain nothing is worrisome. Mine have seen pretty stable the last couple of times since chemo has ended. I will be thinking about you during scan time, mine is already coming up too!! I can’t believe it! Jan, will be a year for me since surgery! How time flies. Take it easy, and take care.

I just had a two month, post adjuvant chemo, followup with my local oncologist this last Thursday. Good news!

My hemoglobin, which had been 9.1, is now 11. While that is still one point under the bottom end of normal for women, it is a significant improvement in a month’s time and I can “feel” the difference. I am rarely winded when I walk around.

My kidney function test, with which I have been most concerned, had been at 1.5…actually moving upward a month ago, 30 days post chemo. But, this Thursday, the Creatinine test had moved downward to 1.1, just one tenth above the high end of normal. It is trending in the right direction this time.

My oncologist was very pleased with the lab results and thinks I’m doing well. Now, with all the tests they ran, there were 14 of them that were “out of spec” compared to normal and a couple concerned me, specifically liver enzyme tests were wonky, but only slightly elevated. My GP has assured me that they are not of concern as well. But, for someone who thrives on being in control…it’s hard to wait this out for change.

I go to Mayo at the end of November for a CT scan and the same bloodwork to be repeated, so I will hopefully see some positive changes at that point….and of course…..I’m hoping for a clean scan. It’s now been 8+ months since my ressection for ICC and two+ months since the end of my chemo.

My hair has regrown (I lost it all on my head, eyebrows and eyelashes) to about a half of an inch to an inch (depending on where you measure…but to the point that people cheer me on for “rocking” the “look”.) My eyelashes have regrown, but are very short. My eyebrows have regrown, and look about the same….maybe a midge more of them, but still very thin. The weight I gained during chemo….well…..only about 7 pounds of the 27 has come off….so that is going to end up being hard work again. I’ve put off doing any hard core dieting until I see the hemoglobin and creatinine in the normal range. I’m just trying to maintain where I’m at and not regain.

We just got home from an almost three week driving vacation….lots of beautiful leaf looking and genealogy as well as visiting family. If it weren’t for some leg swelling (post blood clot) and a sciatic type pain in one leg (old problem..nothing to do with any of the CC stuff), I’d feel almost normal. I’ve started to do mild exercises again…and life looks pretty good right now.

    Julie T.
