Rather let it out and bear the shame ,than keep it in and bear the pain. Oh! I should have put this on the Thought for Today forum. Ha!

    Jeff,
I was just going to post and ask what medications people were taking for heartburn and gas!!! I was wondering if I should ask my doctor for a bile thinner. I too toot. In fact, it “gas” was one of the first words I learned in Swedish so I could apologise correctly.

    Hi All,
Iv’ seen many post about patients having severe gas /flatulence and comments that doctors can’t figure out why. My research has found many reasons. Three reasons that I found that is related to conditions that most of us have or are experiencing: 1. Any type of inflamatory bowel disease 2. Narcotics (pain killers), 3. Intestinal obstructions (cancer). So the next time you visit your doctor and they give the reason I don’t know, you can explain gas 101 to them. As we all know there are many medications to treat this symptom and some are better than others. Ant-acid tablets or liquid, anti-gas tablets or liquids, and then you can go in to peppermint oil. Also a lot of us change our diets to high fiber. Wheat, yogurts, lots of fruits. Many high fiber food groups contain a type of sugar causing lactose build up, that causes flatulance. Some recommend lactase enzyme digestive supplement just before meals, Which I have use and seems to help most of the time. depends on how many times I eat or pig out and forget to take. Like when I sneak a ice cream sandwich, my gas gives me away ha! Also one last thing to remember ,when we have treatments ,chemo ,radiation ,or what ever , we are killing cancerous cells as well as good cells, inturn causing apoptosis that sets the stage of bad bacteria that brings about good bacteria to ensure no infections, that also causes flatulence. Antibiotics, well I guess you can say is a good bacteria in a way causes the same. To conclude my Gas 101 lecture, a lactase enzyme dietary supplement may be of benefit to you. It is not just milk and ice cream that has lactose. It makes foods easier to digest, it’s not another drug, It works by a natural process. It gives relief from diarrhea, gas, and bloating. You don’t need a prescription, as it is an over the counter supplement found in most pharmacy areas. Walmart has it under the brand name equate and not expensive either. Have the bestest day possible to you all.

    God bless,
    Jeff G.
