Dear Sammi
My heart goes out to you and your family. I lost my husband on 7 December so I understand your pain. Thank you for sharing your Dad’s journey and I wish you strength and courage to cope with the sadness ahead. It sounds as if you have a close family, I have too, and having them has been a godsend.
Thoughts are with you. XXXJanuary 16, 2015 at 3:03 am #86088mbachiniModeratorDear Sammie,
Thank you for sharing the beautiful story of your father and the love you have for him. I truly felt it coming through your words as I read this thread from start to finish….blessings to you! You are an amazing daughter…..thank you so much for sharing.
MelindaJanuary 15, 2015 at 6:37 pm #86087gavinModeratorCouldn’t agree more with Duke and Darla Sammie. I came here in 2008 when my dad was diagnosed and he passed away in 09. No chance of me leaving here ever. I do hope that you will keep coming back here Sammie as there are so many people here who know what you are going through and will be able to help you through this. We do care.
Hugs,
Gavin
January 15, 2015 at 4:34 am #86086darlaSpectatorThat is so true. I found this site a few days after Jim passed away and have been here ever since.
The people on this board are awesome. You won’t find more caring, understanding, kind, supportive people than you will find here. I got so much help & support in those early days and hope that in some small way I am able to pass that on.Darla

Now is not the time, but sometime in the future you will have opportunities to comfort others the way you have found comfort here. You will know. Once you are part of this family, you are always part of this family.

January 14, 2015 at 11:40 pm #86084lainySpectatorSammie, it is way too soon yet but one day the good memories will start overtaking the bad and you will find yourself thinking about your Dad and smiling to yourself. Take all the time you need to grieve, every one grieves differently. I do not know if you are a believer but if you are I do have a list of signs that will let you know when Dad comes to visit. If you are not a believer that is ok too. Thinking of you.
P.S. I have not posted that list in a while, think I will post it anyway. I find it very interesting.January 14, 2015 at 8:43 pm #86083sammi0703MemberI’ve learnt so much from the experience and I truly thank you all for such kind words of encouragement and support.
I really believe my Dad passed how he wished to – without his precious daughters there to witness it, but our strong brother who now holds the role of the man of the family. When Dad was first diagnosed he told my brother he must look after us girls and what I find so amazing is that the man who protected me all my life, also died protecting me. So incredible.
I struggle every day with my loss and I know it’s still early days but my heart aches so much.
I will move onto the grief board now but will stay in touch with you all.
Thank you

January 13, 2015 at 3:33 pm #86080lainySpectatorDear Sammie and Family please accept my deep condolences and know that your Dad will always be around you.
Those we love must someday pass beyond our present sight…
They leave us and the world we know without their radiant light.
But we know that like a candle their lovely light will shine
To brighten up another place more perfect…more divine.
And in the realm of Heaven where they shine so warm and bright,
Our loved ones live forevermore in God’s eternal light.January 13, 2015 at 2:25 pm #86079darlaSpectatorDear Sam,

January 13, 2015 at 10:34 am #86077sammi0703MemberHi everyone, my gorgeous Daddy passed away at 7.30pm last night.
He waited until his last daughter left and died holding my brothers hand. It was peaceful.
