MarionMay 4, 2010 at 4:47 pm #37635lisaSpectatorI would love to have any and all of you as my guests! Last night I went and saw Edgar and Sig speak. I am a bigger fan than ever. These are a couple of great guys. Edgar invited me to see the Northwestern in a couple of weeks. I think I will take him up on that offer. I sure wish you all could have been there with me.
May 3, 2010 at 6:20 pm #37634gavinModeratorHi Lisa,
I might just take you up on your offer next year as I would so love to go to that convention! Maybe we could have a CC meeting for all Deadliest Catch fans at the same time! Looking forward to seeing your pics and I sent you a friend request.

May 2, 2010 at 8:43 pm #37629lisaSpectatorI think they plan on having this on a yearly basis. Gavin, or anyone else, if you want to come out next year you are welcome to bunk at my place.
I need to upload the pics onto my facebook page later today. Unfortunately I didn’t figure out the zoom feature on the camera until after the panel discussions

Sounds like you had a great day and it does sound like a lot of fun. I hope you managed to take loads of photos! Is this something that happens every year? Would love to go to this sometime. Both the Wizard and the Northwestern look huge on the tv, but I guess that if your at sea in a huge storm then they will feel pretty small!! No wonder their language is R rated! Glad you had a great time.

May 2, 2010 at 6:46 pm #37627lainySpectatorWHAAAAAT!!! I thought they would ask for your autograph. Glad you had such a great time, it does sound like it was a ton of fun!
May 2, 2010 at 4:25 pm #37626lisaSpectatorCatchCon was lots of fun. I met a lot of the crew, as they were just wandering around signing autographs. They had the captains and the crew panels that were hilarious but definitely rated R for language! I met Capt. Johnathan…. OMG… That man is very attractive and could charm any woman. I was trying to recover from the Capt. Johnathan onslaught of charm when I shook hands with Capt. Andy.
I got on the Wizard and the Northwestern. We weren’t allowed inside, but only on the decks. The boats are a lot smaller in real life and it is amazing that 6 men can work, sleep, eat, and live in such close proximity for so long. No wonder fights break out.
I met people from Denver, Tuscon, and Los Angeles. Gavin, someone even flew in from Scotland! It was a good time, and I wish you all could have shared it with me.
April 30, 2010 at 2:49 pm #37625lisaSpectatorThere is a memorial for Phil Harris tonight, but I don’t think I’ll be able to go to it. I get really tired by early evening, and I want to conserve my energy for the convention. I even borrowed a wheelchair for the convention, becuase it will be a long day. I will post pictures on my facebook when I get home.
April 28, 2010 at 7:55 pm #37624darlaSpectatorLisa, That sounds exciting. This is also one of my sister’s favorite shows. I am sure she would love to be able to do what you are doing. That really is “good news”! Have a great time and let us know all about it when you get back. Darla
April 28, 2010 at 7:20 pm #37623linda-zSpectatorHi Lisa,
DC is one of my husbands most favorite shows. When he gets the chance to watch TV, that is absolutely the chosen one if it’s on. He will be so jealous! I watch it when I can and it really is a neat show. Crabbing really has to be in your blood to do what these boat owners do, and by choice!
What a great opportunity. I just have a feeling it will be great fun. The people on the show have such great “character” too. What fun!
Also, so nice to cross it off your bucket list. That reminds me to actually make one. I have a lot of thoughts about it, but haven’t really made that list. No time like the present.
Post when you return. It will be exciting to hear of your “fishy” adventure. Crab is one of my favorites too. Even over lobster.
(By the way Lainy—-you have a wonderful sense of humor. Thanks!)

April 28, 2010 at 5:00 pm #37622gavinModeratorHi Lisa,
Yes I’ve been hooked on that show since it started here on the Discovery Channel and we get to see both the king crab and Opelio seasons for each year. And we also get the DC marathons that you watched split over a whole weekend!
That’s great that you will be able to tour the Wizard and the Northwestern and get to meet the crews! 2 of the boats that have been featured on the show for years, and as such, it feels like you get to know the crews! I am sure that you will take a load of pics and have a blast!!
Enjoy!!
Gavin
