Jim will be having a CT scan on Monday AM. With the elevated CA19-9 I think the Dr wants to see what has happend during the past month. Then we have an appt on Wednesday with the Dr. I don’t know if he will continue with Jims chemo. We don’t know what to think right now. Prayers needed here. My PCP thinks the chemo is not working and we might be better starting palliative care thru hospice. Jim is still loosing weight he is starting to look sick, I just don’t know what to think. I lost my Mom awhile ago and now I face Jim cancer and the possibility of loosing my best friend. cross your fingers

donna….I sure feel better after reading your corrected Ca 19-9 numbers. Possibly, another blood culture may reveal an infection of some sort. I am crossing my fingers.
    Best wishes,
    Marion

I would gladly appreciate an infection, but, He was in the er last week and all the blood cultures were normal. We have to schedule an appt with the oncologist to see what he thinks. I work for Jims PCP and he feels the chemo is not helping. But he will talk to the oncologist this afternoon.
    Thanks for the prayers.

Donna, a higher CA19 could mean an infection or something else so please don’t jump to conclusions yet. Maybe the doctor will try a different chemo “cocktail”. Teddy’s liver enzymes took a huge jump 2 weeks ago and I thought, oh, oh, here it is. He had a blood infection and after a week on a very strong RX everything went back to normal. Guess it’s all part of our roller coaster ride. I am praying for the best for Tom and please keep us posted.

Jim went yesterday for his last treatment of his thrid cycle of gemzar. Because he has been so fatigued, not eating much and terrible leg edema, they decided to hold off the treatment till next week. However his labs cam back this am and his CA19-9 has doubled in 3 weeks from 927 to 19364.
I know this is going to happen, but its so soon. I am awaiting the Dr to call Jim at home today with the results. I don’t know if going with the treatment is going to be helpful for him. I am so sad. Donna
