Hollie,
Please tell Sophie I send my love, and wishes that those darn ascites will get under control. I am so glad your Mom will be staying with her – what a blessing!Joyce C.

I just want to echo everyones sentiments about your Aunt Sophie. You all will be in my thoughts and prayers. I’ll say a special prayer that you have a safe drive to the Sierras. I was born and raised in California and lived there all my life up until 10 years ago. I have great memories of the Sierras as a kid with my parents. Drive safe and have a wonderful visit with your family this weekend. God Bless,
JamieMay 21, 2009 at 4:28 pm #28016marionsModeratorHollie……Sophie must feel so very loved by her family. What nicer gift is there then to care for the one’s we love so much? I am peddling between Santa Rosa and Berkeley and yes, I will be contacting you when going to the Sierras. Don’t quite know when that will be this year, as much traveling is on my schedule for the next few months.
Have a wonderful weekend.
MarionMay 21, 2009 at 4:16 pm #28015hollieMemberMorning….Thanks for the reply’s..Marion…where do you live? If you make it to Truckee let’s have coffee or lunch..That would be great. I will write when I get back from my visit. My Mom is actually moving in with my Aunt so she is not alone any longer. It gives me so much comfort to know someone is with her. I will tell my Aunt you are all rooting for her and she is always thinking of you all here. This web site has been an amazing support to her and me too..HAve a great day! Hollie

Thanks for the update, I am sorry to hear the ascites have not improved. Please tell Sophie we miss her but we understand she needs to take care of herself and be a grandma!

May 20, 2009 at 9:56 pm #28011marionsModeratorHollie….Sophie’s postings are dearly missed. Thank you so much for keeping in touch. How nice of your Mom to spend the time with Sophie and how wonderful for Sophie to be enjoying little Anna. Crossing my fingers that the trip to the Sierras works out fine. It is a three hour drive for me to Truckee and how I wish to get there soon, myself. The area is absolutely stunning and I consider it to be one of the more beautiful places on earth. Please, tell Sophie that many loving wishes are coming her way and you, Hollie, be safe on the road, this weekend.
Hugs
MarionMay 20, 2009 at 9:35 pm #28010hollieMemberHello to you all,
I thought I would write because I have not seen any posts from my Aunt Sophie lately. Her sister, my Mom, has come from Iowa to be with her at this time. It is such a good thing to have someone there all the time to be with her. At this time the avastin has not proven to be much help. We are still hoping that changes soon because the ascites is quite bad. I am driving to be with her this Memorial weekend and then she and my Mom may come up here for two weeks. That of course involves getting approval from the insurance for a drain up here. It would be just great if we could get her up here again. She so loves the mountains. She is spending time with Sarah and that adorable Grandbaby Anna this week too. Safe travels to you all if you are traveling this weekend. I will be traveling about 950 miles this weekend. Love and prayers for you all, HollieApril 8, 2009 at 9:14 pm #28009hollieMemberHi….Thanks to all of you for the loving and caring support for my Aunt. I am praying this new approach is the answer to help her be more comfortable. I will be driving down to spend time with my Aunt Sophie on the 16th. I can’t wait to be with her, spend time and laugh. She always has a way to do that. HAve a great day! Love, Hollie

I am so happy for you. You were so much in my thoughts and prayers recently. I was worried when I had seen anything from you recently. I am sending you the best vibes for the Avastin. You are a star.Kris
April 8, 2009 at 5:55 am #28006marionsModeratorSophie…Lainy, Tess, Patty and Jean said it so well. There is no obligation to post on this board and certainly not when you don’t feel up to it. It is of utmost importance for you to tend to your own needs. I am so glad to hear that you are relieved of some of the discomfort. Hearing from you is a bonus but, oh so welcome.
Sending tons of good wishes your way,
MarionApril 8, 2009 at 5:38 am #28005jeanMemberSophie
I’m so glad to hear that you’re finally going to be able to start on the Avastin…that’s very good news! Know that there are no apologies ever ever needed here. We all do the very best we can and sometimes that means just getting through the day or the minute. Taking care of yourself is the most important thing you can do. It is good news to all of us that you’re much more comfortable and you’ll be starting the Avastin…I hope you know that is what matters to all of us here!
Sending good thoughts and prayers your way!
Jean

You are our rock star, visit us when you can and sing one of your hits for us and if you’re not up to it take it easy and take care of yourself–that is the most important thing! Oh, and kissing that baby!
