    Dear All,

Thanks so much for the good wishes and prayers. We were at Sloan for Lauren’s scan and blood results yesterday and met with her oncologist, Dr. Eileen O’Reilly. We were thrilled to hear that both were clean and we have reached the milestone of one year post resection/whipple. Lauren turned 30 and it was a very happy birthday.

Again, thank you so much for everyone who was so reassuring that the anxiety was to be expected, and the results, when normal, so joyful.

    Gratefully,

    January

    January –
Even my husband who seems unflappable at times just admitted some scananxiety to me the other night. We have one the 31st to see if he will continue chemo, do radiation or just monitor. I already knew I had it. I find some relaxation exercises help me to get some sleep before.

Keeping my fingers crossed for a great scan. And congrats on one year.

    January,

I have lived with scan-xiety since 1994 almost every year. Most recently after my CC diagnosis I had scans every 3 months for the past 3 years. Now I am on yearly scans. The scanxiety rises and falls with the news from the previous one for me.

It’s good to use distraction and not project bad news before the scan. I try to remember that fearing the worst does not change anything. it is what it is.
Easier said then done for sure.

My best wishes for good news!!

    Dear January,

I don’t think the anticipation before or after scans ever gets easier. It is such a huge deal!! I remember the sick feeling before the scans and while waiting for the results. I also remember the joy or heartbreak after finding out the results. Here’s to only having JOY!!!!

    Hugs and love,
    -Pam

    January,
I don’t know if the anticipation before a scan gets any easier. This is a milestone filled with hope. Wishing your daughter the best… A clean scan.
