Thank you for the guidance, Marions! I will see what I can find by doing a search

SGM…..many have experience with Gemcitabine as single agent in the treatment of their disease. My husband had little side effects on the combination of Gemcitabine and 5-FU, but his disease continued to progress.
You may also want to retrieve older postings by entering “Gem” or “Gemcitabine” in the Search function. By doing so, you will pull up an enormous amount of previous postings and some information may not be of value to you. But, unless someone shares their personal information, then that is the only recourse we have for retracting information pertaining to a specific subject. You will notice that the majority of postings pertaining to Gemcitabine as single agent appear to have occurred some time back.
    Best of luck,
    Hugs,
    Marion

I originally posted this in Chemotherapy, but thought I might get a little more response on General Discussion.

My dad had 11 GEMOX treatments before experiencing strong neuropathy in his hands and feet. The Dr. and I discussed quality of life compared to continuing with Oxaliplatin with the neuropathy getting worse, so the outcome for now is no more Oxaliplatin.

Has anyone had experience with starting combination chemo then dropping back to 1? If so, how did you or your love one respond? Did the cancer take off or will Gemcitabine do the job by itself?

My dad does have a scan with in the week and then we will know more about what direction to go.

But until then… He is enjoying Dairy Queen Blizzards now
