Thank you for sharing your experience Mbachini ! So far his recent scan showed no growth/ maybe a little less, but this was at the beginning of taking him off Oxaliplatin. Crossing my fingers it will be the same in 3 months with Gemar only. In the mean time, neuropathy is a huge pain for him!

    Thanks again!

    SGM,
I did Taxotere after that for about 6 months before it failed as well…..Please keep us posted on your dad’s progress, and keep the Blizzards coming!!

Ha, Ha, thanks for that, about your Dad and his Blizzards. The best part of all of this is the funny things that we can find happening. Very cute!

    Dear SGM,

I did Gem/Cis combo and also ended up with severe neuropathy in my feet and hands. I stopped the Cisplatnin and did the Gemcitabine alone and unfortunately my tumors grew. I know that we all respond differently but wanted to share my experience with you.

SGM…..I hope for someone to come forward and answer your question. It helps to periodically revive unanswered postings. This will then place it on top of the page.
    Hugs,

My dad had 11 GEMOX treatments before experiencing strong neuropathy in his hands and feet. The Dr. and I discussed quality of life compared to continuing with Oxaliplatin with the neuropathy getting worse, so the outcome for now is no more Oxaliplatin.

Has anyone had experience with starting combination chemo then dropping back to 1? If so, how did you or your love one respond? Did the cancer take off or will Gemcitabine do the job by itself?

My dad does have a scan with in the next week and then we will know more about what direction to go.

Thanks in advance for anyone’s response that can relate!
