I will record everything on my IPhone. I get to the point where I can’t even write! She means the world to me. Please pray for my strength and that I ask the right questions.
Thank you so much…
November 23, 2011 at 11:47 am #54887gavinModeratorHi Elsyr,
Where are you getting this second opinion from? Not really much else I can add to what Percy and Marion have already said to you, but I just want to say that I so agree with what Marion says regarding taking a recording device and taking notes at this meeting. You will get a ton of information here and it is very hard trying to take all of it in and remember it all. I say this from experience of taking my dad to many apps with his specialist and it is so easy to forget things, especially so if you are not sure what the doctor is talking about. And don’t be afraid to ask any questions that you and your gran think are relevant. My dad said to me before these meetings that I could ask anything I wanted to of his doctors and maybe you could ask your gran if it is okay for you to do the same, just a thought. I hope it all goes well and please let us know how you get on.
My best wishes to you and your gran,
Gavin

If you have had limited access to your grandma’s medical records then it would be helpful to have a list prepared. You would want to mention the metal stent and the therapy your grandma is receiving presently and the noticeable side effects of the treatments. If possible take along a note pad or a recorder as much information will be coming your way.
Good luck and please keep us posted.
All my best wishes,

If it is second opinion on surgical consult by Dr. Keto, make sure you bring the cat scan disk and report and ask him whether he can do surgery for your grandma.
I think if it is stage IV and only involved the liver and metastasized only to 2. Lymph nodes as you mentioned and not involved other organ or blood vessels, the chance will be pretty good if your grandma is in relatively good health.
If he said yes,he will tell you how long the surgery will take and how long she will be in the hospital and how long it takes for recovery.
If he said no, ask him why like is it because of metastasis to other parts of the body.Is it the location of the tumor difficult to get to? will chemo or radiation improve the chance for surgery later?
Keep in touch and
God bless.November 22, 2011 at 3:04 pm #5955elsyr73MemberWhat types of questions should I ask? I would deeply appreciate any suggestions. Thank you so much.
