    Dear Cheri,
My mother also choose no treatment and lived almost 2 years. With any treatment comes side affects and I had to respect her wishes. I am sending you tons of love, support and hugs.

Hi Cheri, Welcome to this site. I hope you find a good caregiver for your dad. There are some good people out there. Sorry you have to go through this so soon after losing your mom. Hugs. Nancy

Thank you both for you help! I have contacted hospice for a list of caregivers and the are sending it to me. I really appreciate your time. God bless you both!

    Hello Cheri,
Sorry to hear about your dad. I understand what you are saying. Hospice is wonderful and can lend alot of support to you and your dad. Unfortunately they can not be there all the time. So that is why you will probably need to hire someone to stay with him. I am praying for you. Check with your hospice team as they may be able to recommend someone that you can hire to help you. If you were in the New Orleans area, I could give you someone who is awesome. Keep looking and God bless you and your family.

Hello Cheri and welcome to our remarkable family. I am so sorry about your Dad but not understanding your Hospice. When I had Hospice for my husband they came out 3 days a week to check on him and then sent an aide to help him shower 3 times a week. I was also thinking that perhaps Hospice can recommend someone to come in full time if that is what you need. Best of luck on it all and hoping for the best for your Dad.

Hello everyone! My dad was diagnosed in February of this year with cc. He has chosen no treatment as he watched my mother lose her quality of life with chemo prior to dying a year and a half ago. He is currently in the hospital for a blood clot, fluid in his abdomen and an infection of some sort in his arm. The doctors feel it is time for hospice to be involved. We met with them today and found that we need to hire a caregiver to assist him at home or he should go to a nursing home. He would like to stay at home. When my mother was dying I was her caregiver and did everything for her. I just don’t feel comfortable helping him with bathing and the bathroom since he is my dad. I feel really selfish but I don’t want my dads privates to be the last thing I remember about him. If it were anyone else I could probably do it. So my question is how do you go about finding someone whose trustworthy and good to help out? I do love him and want to give him the best possible care we can get. Any suggestions?
