Kendra, I was never a candidate for surgery, and don’t think I will. I had ten tumors to start with in April 2010, and at most 15-20 (one big 8x10cm and the rest small ones) spread all over my liver.
Two years on chemo, 6 chemoembolizations later I’m still feeling very well, working (ambulancenurse, sometimes quite hard work) and as I wrote before, ran marathon a month ago.
That is the reality of this cancer, in my case. And I plan on staying this way.
To achieve this I work hard, everyday. Training 5-6 days a week, tired or not. I eat as my life depend on it, and I’ve done a lot of research on complementary medicin, and use it a lot.
I believe there is a way to stay healthy without surgery, and I do my best to proove it.Don’t loose faith!

I have had two liver resections, steriotactic radiation twice and I m on my third six month chemo regimen. It’s like dealing with a chronic illness so you just keep plugging away never giving up hope or faith.

Surgery is the only possible cure for CCA.
Many patients hope and pray for for that chance to have surgery.
I will jump on the chance if 2nd opinion on surgery allow your boyfriend to do so.

They said he isn’t a canidate for surgery since the tumors are all through out his liver, and I believe in his lymphnodes. He had a scan yesterday and showed that his tumors area already shrinking and some are even gone. He has only had 4 chemo sessions! Hopefully once things calm down in there maybe he will be a canadate? But I do agree a second opinion would be beneficial! His mom was telling me how horrible the cancer is and that he won’t be around next year. I have a hard time believing this. Maybe I’m just being naeve, but who’s to say we can’t keep things at bay and he can have some good years. Have any of you experianced anything like this? What were the results without surgery? This week has been full of ups and downs. While I don’t want to face the reality of this cancer, I also need to know. (Even though I know there is no positive answer).

Technically, I was ‘cancer free’ 5 days before I was officially diagnosed last September. We weren’t officially told it was CC until the pathology came back after my surgery. 8/29/11 was confirmed that a mass was on the bile duct, 9/14/11 I had the surgery…

You asked: how long was your battle prior to being cancer free?
The truth of the matter is, the road to being cancer free lies through surgery. I went back and read all of your previous messages. You didn’t mention surgery once. Am I correct to assume that your boyfriend was deemed inoperable by his hospital? I’m also wondering, have you sought a second or third opinion about surgery?

To tell the truth,I really don’t know,I am sorry. but I am a 36 months survivor I hope my picture on this web site will give you some idea of what a CCA patient looks like after 3 years of battle.
I always treat this cancer as a chronic disease like hypertension or diabetes;it requires patience,courage and knowledge to manage such a roller coaster ride.
It is not easy to do so; emotional and physical ,it can be very exhausted.God bless.
I was cancer free 9 months after diagnose, I was lucky enough to qualify for a transplant, but… due to complications from radiation I ended up having 2 transplants. I was diagnosed on July 31, 2008 and spring 2011 I could do all of Walmart by myself!!!! LOL!! It was along 3 years, but I am here to give HOPE and prove there are miracles.
