topcatJ….Irontecan is known to be difficult to tolerate. Given that Dennis presents with esophageal varices and ascities, I would consider a heart to heart talk with the treating oncologist because; Vanderbilt sees a fair amount of CC patients. It may help to ask a direct question such as: How would you proceed if you had a loved one in my husband’s situation? This of course should not hinder you from searching out a second or third opinion as had been suggested by Lainy and Dana. I am sending all my best wishes your way.
    Hugs,
    Marion

Hi topcatJ…hang in there and I totally agree with Lainy about getting a second opinion from a cc experienced Dr. I wish y’all all the best.
    Take care, Dana

Hi topcatj, I’m sorry to hear about the latest. Sorry, I have to say it as I see it, I would look for another Doctor and get a 2nd opinion. Do not care for that DOC’s attitude. There are other options out there and depending on your husband’s prognosis there could be other chemos he can try. The major Cancer Centers are the best plpaces and if yhou do find another Doctor make sure he has experience with CC as well as the Hospital he is affiliated with. Be strong for the both of you and please keep us updated.

    Hi alll
Dennis is doing another chemo called Irontecan. This seems to be doing a number on him . He seems alot more tired. His balance is somewhat off. All these things were happening before the new regimen. It’s hard to see a vibrant guy god’s through this. This has got him down too. He cries sometimes. The doctor laid the option for either the chemo or just letting the disease progress and consider hospice. Ehhh…what’s a choice to make. Keep us in your prayers as I will do for youall. Youall rock in my book!!!
