Dear Ilias, I have recently found out that I would rather have a Doc with no personality but one who is very smart and really cares. If he doesn’t give you answers just push him….over the balconey if you have too. Have a wonderful vacation with your family…you deserve it!

    Thanks Deane and Marions

Queensland (Surfers Pardise) is lovely at the moment. Sitting on the balcony On the 27 th floor and looking over the ocean and thinking of mum. I am trying to enjoy myself as much as possible, but my mind always turns to mum.

    Anyway, take care

    Hey Lainy

I always have a smile on my face reading your replies. Thanks so much for your responses.

P.S. Lots of water where I am at the moment. Currently on vacation with my wife and boys here on the gold coast in Queensland. It’s a lot like your Miami.

    Hi Marions

Thanks for the details, but Canberra and Sydney are a little too far for mum to travel. My brother in law is a local physician here in Melbourne and his best friend is head of radiology oncology at the Epworth. Mum is currently seeing a very good oncologist at the moment, but unfortunate he has no compassion and bedside manner. I have asked him for information about mum’s results in the past but does not bother to communicate in a friendly manner. He is rude and arrogant. My mum’s English is not the best and trying to act as an interpreter is sometimes difficult. This is why I would like to see somebody with some manners. My brother in laws mate has some other oncologist in mind if we are willing to switch.

Anyway, I will keep you all up to date after mums CT tomorrow.

    Take Care

Based on the discussions with several physicians located in Australia, I have learned that very few specialists are familiar with the disease of Cholangiocarcinoma therefore; it might be difficult to near impossible to obtain a second opinion in person.
    Genevieve had posted the following:

    Canberra:

    Dr Charles Mosse
Hepatopancreatobiliary, Upper GI and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgeon
Calvary Clinic Specialist Medical Centre / Suite 20
    40 Mary Potter Circuit
    Bruce ACT 2617
    Tel: (02) 6253 4122

    Sydney:

    Dr Charbel Sandroussi
Upper Gastrointestinal, Hepatobiliary and Transplant Surgeon
100 Carillon Ave, Suite 306 RPAH Medical Centre
    Newtown NSW 2042
    Tel: (02) 9565 1375
Operates at RPA and the Mater Hospitals.

    I hope this helps.
    Hugs,
    Marion

Thank you Marions and Pamela. The family are being as strong as we can be. Mum is regaining her strength each day. Looking at her the last week you would never think she was struck by such a horrid disease. She is eating well, walking and laughing.

    Ilias,

I am so sorry to hear about your Mum. I think a 2nd opinion would be a great idea and maybe even more to find someone willing and able to care for your Mum. I don’t blame you for being angry. We want doctors to care for our loved ones as if they were their own family members. When they fall short, we feel angry and upset. I hope you find someone to help. Bless you and your Mum.

    Love, -Pam

Ilias…I am sorry to hear of the latest developments with your dear Mom. Considering that she had undergone Whipple surgery in July, difficult and non-response to treatments, and concurring infections, she must be exhausted from it all. I hope that she can get some rest and regain her strengths.
My heart is with you. Be strong.
    Hugs,
    Marion

    Hi Ilias!
My momma had this horrible cancer in 2007 and now my brother has it. :( So I know the anger your feeling. I’m so sorry about your mom. I think a second opinion is always wise especially if your Mom has the fight in her :)
    Good luck to you.
    Prayers headed your way.

Mum has not had one full cycle of gem/cis and seems to get an infection each time after she has her chemo. She had her onc apt yesterday and he feels that there is not much more that can be done. I feel so angry.

Mum has q CT booked in for thursday to see how far the disease has progressed. I want to seek a second opinion as I think her onc has given up on her.

    Hugs and kisses
    Ilias
