Grrrrrrrrr Katie I am so sorry to hear this. Teddy & I both were denied PET Scans a few times but the ONC always got it pushed through. It is so frustrating that they ok it the first time and then the second time they say it is experimental! What more can we say?
Well our first appeal was denied (for coverage for Chemo Embolization procedure…which did work! So frustrating!), so now we either have to come up with $40k or switch to systemic (GEM/CIS) chemo. The fact that an insurance company can just decide to deny coverage for a well known procedure calling it “Experimental” is infuriating!!! I am beyond frustrated. Our doc said he has never lost to an insurance co before…we are the first
The systemic is covered, and hopefully that will work for Mom as well.
