I smeared over the counter anti itch cream all over and it offered some relief. Bathing in baking soda also helped in short spells. I did notice that the more I drank, the less I itched-perhaps I was flushing more of the bile out my body?

Tom, the itching is due to liver failure and quite common. One very simple remedy that helped me quite a bit was Eucerin Calming Creme. good luck

    Hi Tom,

My wife, Lana, has the itching problem. From what I understand, this is not uncommon with cc. Our oncologist prescribed DOXEPIN for the itching. It seems to be working. She is taking one 50mg capsule at bedtime.

The first time I got this prescription, I thought the pharmacy had made a mistake. It seems that this medication is for depression. So I called and verified. Sure enough, it alleviates itching.

Lana’s DX was the middle of October 2007. She is doing ok. Currently on oxalaplatin and xeloda. Side effects are huge blisters on her feet and of course quite tired.

    Hope this helps.

God bless all of us affected by this terrible disease.

My dad had his stents replaced and the itching has not stopped. He is going on 9 months since dx. Do any of you have any ideas on what a person can do to stop the itching? He tried Benedril and didn’t work.

Is this what I should expect towards the end?

    Thanks

    Tom
