Best of luck Catherine, with Dad. I go in on the 11th for stitch removal and the “big” discussion on to RAD or not on the new tumor. It is such a huge puzzle as to why I am prone to these benign tumors. Guess I have over worked my brain all my life!

    Thanks Lainy-

We meet with ONC today. So far Dad has had 6 brain radiation rounds with 4 more to go. Hoping that they don’t say today that it’s too far spread to bother with chemo. He started having a cough, so we are concerned with waiting for another week or two to start (primary is small cell lung).

    Take care,
    Catherine

Hi Catherine and everyone…….This is 8 days now and yesterday I actually went out with my Robin. Frist to the store and then lunch out then at 4PM to a shoe store for a pair of dress shoes and out to dinner. Feeling pretty ok and today went to the GP. Ha, ha, he told Robin not to let me walk in any intersections while still on the OXY. I dismissed Robin today to go home as I am not weak at all just get a little tired. Stitches come out the 11th.
My GP walks in the room and says , “so, take off your cap, I want to see your haircut”. He cracks me up! The big question is already starting as to whether to zap the other sucker or let it grow and do surgery again. Will see what the Neurosurgeon has to say next week.
So, yes, I am popping in and out a little, you just know I can’t stay away. Catherine I sure hope things are getting better in your neck of the woods!

Has the doctor said it’s ok for you to be on the computer already? I see you popping up on the board, but don’t think it’s been 2 weeks:)

Hope you’re feeling better. Rest and Take care of yourself.

On Monday, January 25, Robin Pinkus wrote: This is Lainy’s daughter, Robin, she wanted me to include you in the email updates so here you go: Monday, Janaury 25th she was scheduled for 800AM the surgery was delayed due to an ICU emergency surgery that her surgeon had to attend to, she was in at 12:15. She was definitely ready to get things done! The nurse had a really hard time with the IV and after a few attempts they decided when she is under – the anesthesiologist would install a “central line” that they use for everything and take it out when she goes home. It worked out very well. When she wakes up she will be in ICU and the next day on the cardiac floor.
Mom had an MRI when we first got here the morning, the doctor told her that he has found another tumor, although very small, on the opposite side of her head! I asked what causes these and he said there really is no known reason, and they are supposed to be very slow growing, he will address this matter very soon and of course just keep a watch on it to see if it grows slowly. Right now there is nothing we can answer about it, she goes in for a 2 week check after surgery to get the staples out and he will discuss the game plan then, I’m sure it will really be just scans over time to see if it is growing.
She should get out of surgery around 3:30-4:00 and I will update you after I see the doctor. Thank you everyone for all the prayers and good wishes!
Good news!! The doctor just came out and said she did real good! The tumor he removed was about the size of a golf ball, maybe even a touch bigger. He said there were no complications and that she was in recovery and we could go see her when she moves to the ICU in about an hour. he said the other tumor was about the size of a quarter and again, he will just watch it at this point, he said maybe even talk about radiation on the tumor to stunt the growth (down the road of course). The new smaller tumor may have to have radiation.
Good morning!! WOW what a great night! Mom is doing well, the doctor has been in this morning and said she is doing better than expected (well, we knew she would do great!). The doctor did not put a drain in her head so that is one less thing she had to worry about. She is having pain in her jaw, this is because the muscle he was working on is connected all the way down to her jaw and this will of course get better. I will be reading everyone’s email to her so thank you for those, and I apologize for not getting back to you but you know how it gets crazy busy at a time like this, I just want to make sure I can get updates out so that you know what is going on and how mom is doing. OH, I saved the best for last, guess what? She is going home tomorrow. Have a great day and thank you again for all those prayers!! Love Robin
