Looking for Dr. In Tampa area

I see Dr James Harris at Florida Cancer Specialists in West Palm Beach, FL and highly recommend him.
I was diagnosed stage IV in July 2011 and saw several doctors for opinions, inc going to the Moffitt Center (was told there that I had 3 – 6 months to live and should travel etc while I still felt well enough and they would start chemo later – not very positive so wasn’t a good fit for me) . After a surgery to remove one tumor – Dr. Harris started me on chemo, said he would have it under control with 18-24 months and did exactly that. I’m still on chemo but the cancer has been reduced to the bile duct only and is under control. Honestly do not believe I would be alive right now if not for Dr. Harris’ aggressive treatment style and positive outlook.

Daisy….we had some contact with Florida Hospital, Tampa. I believe they have a group of physicians focused on biliary cancer.

MarionHi Daisy- my name is Mika. I live in Sarasota, in the Oaks, with my parents- my Dad was just diagnosed with CC on Monday this week. Very sad times for us.
So far we only have a gastroenterologist and a surgeon, Dr. Zervos and Dr. Tzakis at the Cleveland Clinic. We have been travelling over to the Weston location (near Ft. Lauderdale) ,and it looks like we will be going there much more now. He is being tested right now to see if the cancer has spread anywhere else.
He hasn’t received an oncologist yet because it’s so soon, but I will let you know when he does who it is. The liver surgeon he is seeing now, Dr. Tzakis, will be consulting with the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, and then I’m sure my dad will be seeing an oncologist.

MarionThank you for the info…I was wondering if anyone on this forum has a Dr. There that they have used and recommend? My mom has her scans at Sloan but I need to find a place local…I hate that she has to fly back just for a scan.

MarionMy parents may be making a permanent move to Florida. At this time my mom is under the care of Dr. Abou Alfa at Sloan in NY. They are snow birds but a recently development may make Florida a permanent residence for them. We just saw Dr. Abou a few weeks ago but this development just happened. We will consult with him jp hen we see him next but in the meantime if I remember correctly someone mentioned a Dr. In the Tampa area?? They live in Sarasota.
