    Good morning,

So far Medicare has been great for Mom ( she has a supplemental too).  We have been told they limit how frequently PET scans or CA-19 blood test can be done, but no major problems.  We were also told by the radiologist that her would prefer to do the proton beam radiation but if insurance turns it down, they will use the traditional.  He seemed to think Medicare would be fine with approval, but guess we will have to see.

    Happy New Year!

    Hi Brigitte,

I hope this glitch has a happy ending and did not delay your treatment.

I have not had this exact experience but I know there is a lot of behind the scenes coordination between hospitals and insurers.  Patients don’t hear much about this unless something falls through the cracks.

    Let’s hope this was a one-time experience.

Wishing you and your family the best for a Happy New Year.

    Regards, Mary

I had a bit of a shock last Thursday when I went to get my chemo treatment.  I was told Medicare had MD Anderson claim for that day on hold. Needless to say I was panicking. I  called Medicare and was assured that I was covered as I had cancer but told to have my provider call the provider tel line. It is the first time I had this happen, after 2 years of chemo. Has anyone had that happen to them with Medicare?
