    HIi Racheal,
My dear mom had met to her right ovary discovered by increased uptake by PET-Ct and confirmed by CT scan.

Rachael…..we have had metastases to ovaries reported however; all were detected via scan “in combination with numerous other visible” lesions. The postings I am eluding to only show highlighted ovaries, as it is in your case. Therefore, I feel hopeful that your surgery will prove that the mass to your ovaries will prove to be benign also.

    Rachael,

My mass was not removed laparoscopically. I was opened and was in the hospital 3 days. It was not a bad surgery at all. Nothing like the liver resection. I am 32, so bounce back quickly.
The reason mine was open was because I had radiation and the surgeon wasn’t sure if I had a lot of scar tissue that would permit a laparoscopic procedure. But the main reason was I had a small nodule on my omentum and I wanted to make sure he got a good look at that. The thing on my omentum was just scar tissue, my liver surgeon said this is common after liver surgery. (But cc spreads to the omentum, so again I was concerned)
I also had a pelvic wash which was negative for malignancy.

If they don’t open you, it will probably be one night in the hospital, maybe even outpatient.

    take care,

    Susie

Thank you both for your responses. My surgery is scheduled for Monday. I guess we shall see…

Susie~ was your mass removed laparoscopically? How long were you in the hospital? Recovery time?

Marion~ I understand mets to ovaries are rare. Do you know if this member had mets elsewhere or was it contained to her ovaries? My liver surgeon asked me this question this afternoon.

I have had something on my ovaries on my PET scan. The doctors don’t seem worried about it, and think its just a normal cyst. I have a history of cyst on my ovaries too. So, I’m not too worried about it.

Rachael….Ovarian metastases has only been reported once on this site. We have witnessed numerous scares, but 99% of the time it came back benign. Fingers are crossed for you to have the same results.

    Rachael,

I don’t want to get your hopes up, but I will share my story with you. I had a liver resection May 2011. In August a small ovarian cyst was found and it continued to grow. It was non vascular, with solid and cystic components. I had it removed in June. It was benign. An endometrioma.
    I was very scared.

    Take care,

    Susie

Does anyone have any experience with CCA reoccurrence in the ovaries? Yesterday during my two year scan, a mass was discovered on my right ovary. An ultrasound was done today; it is non vascular and solid. Radiologist and my tx coordinator think it is likely benign but of course, my mind has raced through all the possibilities. I see a gynecological oncologist in the morning. Dr. Google hasn’t been helpful in finding much information.
Thanks for any and all information.
    Rachael
