Agree, dear Brigitte. Dealing with this cancer is tough enough, patients have the right to be treated fairly, professionally and with respect.

If it happens again, I will file a complaint.

I agree with Gavin. This is not acceptable and hopefully will not happen again!

Brigitte….this is upsetting to hear not only as a caring human, but in particularly as a patient advocate fighting for patient rights. I understand the time constraint physicians face, nevertheless patients have to be treated with respect. Obviously, this has not happened.
Is it possible that today’s nurse and oncologist are filling in on a temporary basis only? Perhaps next time you will be tended to by the nicer team?

    Hugs,

Dear Brigette, how rude of them. Things like this really get my dander up. I would talk to the Manager of the department or the Hospital and tell them what happened and I would switch to a new team. I have never heard a story like this especially at MDA and it is NOT right. You are going through enough without having 2 ‘robots’ taking care of you. You deserve so much better!

I get chemo at the MD Anderson annex in the Woodlands and monthly visit with the nurse/doctor and only go to MD Anderson main cancer center in Houston for my scan every 3 months and to see my primary oncologist for results and plans for treatment. I usually have a physician assistant who is very professional and kind at the Woodlands MD Anderson. Today, I had a new nurse who was less than professional and walked out in the middle of our conversation. The new doctor who is a general oncologist came in, introduce himself, talked about my blood test, answered a few of my questions before he started texting on his phone in the middle of the conversation. My appointment was at 11:15, I saw the doctor at. 12:30 ! That is the first time I had to wait so long. I had chemo at 1:00 so was getting nervous waiting! I usually get seen by the doctor ever month and this one wants to see me in 2 weeks? Usually they listen to my chest, check my tummy, my ankles for swelling. Today, none of that was done. I am not sure what to do.
