Julie…….please, please remember that several members have undergone multiple surgeries and they are around to tell us about it. The tumor has been found and it can be surgically removed. I believe that our Lisa had three separate surgeries and radiation (at one point.) She is thriving and has learned to live this cancer similar to that of a chronic disease.
    Hang in there, dear Julie.
    Hugs,
    Marion

I just answered your email so can say what I want here! LOL
To everyone………Julie is one of the strongest women I know and we have become extremely close and I am here to tell you JULIE WILL BEAT THIS! Consider it done! Honestly she is more worried about babysitting her Grandsons! She is worried who will make big dinners for awhile for the whole family. She is worried about finishing several projects at home. It can all wait and now we need to convince her it is time for her! I think I just got my point across to her……friends can do that! I am looking forward to the best outcome it can be! BIG hugs today to you, Julie cause I know after today you will be fine!

I am at Mayo Rochester right now,. Just finished a discussion with my oncologist who told me that the cancer has returned. Not the news I was hoping, but I had a feeling in the pit of my stomach that was going to be the case.

I am going to put the best spin on this possible. The tumor is 1 cm in the outer top edge of segment 4a , about as close to the surgical cut edge as it could have grown. There is only one visible. Four months ago, there wasn’t anything there in the scans. My lungs are clear of any mets and none were seen elsewhere. Lymph nodes are all normal or too small to be seen.

the plan is to see a surgeon late this afternoon, find out HIS plan, and if all is as we expect, go into surgery either next week or the week after…..but as soon as we can get on his surgical schedule. My original surgeon is on vacation and has actually changed direction in her interests so probably wouldn’t be available anyway. This surgeon’s name is Dr. Smoot (or Schmoot…not sure of spelling) He is a specialist surgeon in hepto-biliary surgery with an interest in CC.

The onocologist has indicated that this time, they will probaby want me to do radiation of the resection margin , possibly with chemo. It may be here at Mayo…..though it “could” be at home. I think my oncologist would prefer it was here though. That won’t be until I am sufficient recovered from surgery.

We’ll know more later today…but will drive home tonight to spend the weekend at home.

    Bummer!!!

    Julie T
