    Hi Hisprazr,

Welcome to the site. Sorry that you had to find us all here and sorry to hear of your husbands diagnosis, but glad that you’ve joined as you’re in the best place for support and help and I know that you will get a ton of each from everyone here. Thanks for sharing about your husband and that is superb news about his shrinkage that you got this week! Fingers are crossed that this continues with the Gem/Cis and please keep us update on how that goes.

In addition to the links that Marion has given you, we also have a great nutrition board that may be of interest to you and it can be found here –

As I said, I so hope that this shrinkage continues and please let us know how things go. We are all here for you.

My best wishes to you and your husband,

    Gavin

Hello and welcome to our site. Congratulations on the significantly reduced shrinkage of the tumor. Low platelet counts are not uncommon with chemo treatments and often times it resolves itself within a few weeks. I am not a doctor hence all the information shared must be verified by the treating physician. From what I have learned, foods such as spinach, dried beans and citrus all are high in Folate and mutton, liver, cheese, milk and eggs are high in Vitamin B12. My husband refused to consume liver, but did well with all the other foods. Both, Folate and B12 can raise the platelet counts. Others may share some of their thoughts with us also.
In the meantime though, you might want to take a look at these links:

Good luck and please keep us posted. We care.
    Hugs,
    Marion

My husband was diagnosed with intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma 4th stage in the spring and has received 4 rounds of chemo to date. He is being treated with gem/cid total of 6 hrs counting steroids and other prep meds etc. every other week. Staging this week showed about 30% shrinkage in mass. But, platelets had dropped in half since chemo two weeks before. What is the fastest way nutritionally to bring that count back up in order to take chemo again next week. They delayed it until the numbers come up.
