    Lisa,
    thanks so much for sharing this. Presently, I am attending the ASCO in Chicago where I have addressed CC when introducing myself to other patient advocates and physicians, alike. Most, if not everyone (excluding the physicians) have never even heard of this cancer which of course does not come as a surprise to any of us. There is plenty of support though, coming our way. People are networking, giving hints and suggestions with the hope of drawing attention to CC. It feels good to be heard.
    Hoping for you to have recovered from your hour-long lap around the track.

    Our community just staged a Relay for Life sponsored by the American Cancer Society. I can’t say enough good things about it. It was amazing to see the number of people that were touched by cancer in our small community coming together to fight this dreadful disease. The ACS has helped me, and I know they have helped millions of other people in our situation. What I like about the ACS is that they don’t just target one specific type of cancer. Those of us with “orphan cancer” can relate to that. Their research, advocacy and fundraisers help fight all sorts of cancer.

    I was in the survivors lap. All of the people that did not have cancer lined the track and applauded as survivors and well as those fighting cancer walked around the track. I had tears in my eyes, realizing that we are not alone in this battle – there are so many people who love and care for us. Having this cancer has certainly opened my eyes to both the suffering and the compassion that fighting cancer brings into our lives.

    Yesterday I walked my hour-long lap around the track for the Relay, and of course I paid for it later in the day with swelling in my abdomen and fatigue. But it was worth it to do my little, teeny, tiny part in the fight against cancer.
