Cathy-Too tired to shop?!?!! Say it ain’t so! ;)
I think my dad will try this. He has had three wound vacs, so the last thing he wants it another “friend” to carry around but it sounds like the best option. We briefly discussed trying the pill form of 5-FU , but it doesn’t seem the right fit.
I figured the radiation was in/out, probably longer to get to/from the car!

We are waiting on a return call from the Oncologist to see what the timeline looks like. My dad has been on antibiotics for three weeks, with one more week to go. Looks like they will finish that and then put in the port.

Stacey-We did 5 day radiation with 24 hour 5-FU pump. Dr. Parik was my raadation oncologist. It was pretty easy, actual treatment was 10 mins I think. I got extremely tired about 2 weeks after treatments were done. I wasn’t bed ridden just tired. I remember meeting husband at Galleria to do Christmas shopping and being to exhausted. Never good when you can’t shop!! Just keep praying-Cathy

    I knew this was coming!

We went for a second opinion today, with a new oncologist, to see what her thoughts on my dad doing chemo and radiation were. She wants to try 5-FU.
We are nine months post resection and have never discussed 5-FU. I thought it was a first line therapy? My dad required dialysis post resection, so the consensus is Gem/Cis would be too hard on his body. Also, they want him to (try) to do five weeks of five day a week radiation. My dad is game, but his thought is we give it one chance. He has had sepsis twice and several additional blood infections, so if it reduces his quality of life too much, he will stop immediately.

Anyone done this therapy this late in the game?

    TIA!

    Stacey
