    Hi Jules,

Good luck to your mum for her chemo! So hoping that it all goes well for her and please let us know how she gets on with it. Natural to be scared of starting it and there is nothing wrong with that at all. My fingers are crossed for her!

    Best wishes to you both,

    Gavin

Jules, I have the same problem with the picture. I guess it has to be small but small blurs. But, its better than nothing. I was sure that was you and your Mum you DO look alike.

Ha – thanks Lainy! The avatar is me and mum at our Christmas party last year. It’s a bit blurry though – not sure how I can rectify this as it took me ages to even figure out how to re-size it :)

Well, after a very long time (seven months!) since all of this started, my mum finally begins her chemo today. Three cycles of Gem/Cis – I think that’s right; i’m presuming that one cycle counts as two weeks on, one week off? She will then be re-evaluated to see whether surgery is possible. Our surgeon reckons that it’s 50/50, if we can kill off a few of the smaller spots on the liver, but our oncologist has said that surgery will never be possible – naturally we’re ignoring this!

My mum has been a little scared to start chemo, due to the possible side effects, but i’ve seen on this site that many people do well on Gem/Cis, so i’ve been able to reassure her and she is feeling hopeful that she’ll tolerate it well. Thanks again for all of your support, it’s making this process a whole lot easier. I’ll keep you all updated as to how she gets on.
