    Hi Amy,

So sorry to hear about your Mom. This happened to my Dad the once, luckily it was over the weekend whilst he was still in hospital. I had noticed he was sweating so much his pjs were wet through when he got out of his chair. My Dad would never complain but it was clear to see something was wrong! He’d only been taking paracetomol for the discomfort and was desperate to come home so kept saying he was ok! I spoke to the Sister on the ward and once they’d checked his temperature they started him on IV antibiotics which helped within 24 hours.

After that my Dad was kept on a low dose of ciprofloxin (sp) to keep infections in his 3 metal stents at bay, and it worked.

I hope your Mom is sorted out very soon.

Amy….try everything you can to speak with your Mom’s physician re: the cause of the nausea. Good luck and please keep us posted.
    Hugs,
    Marion

Amy, my husband used to get blood infections with CC. He had high fever. chills etc. They would put him on Levaquin as the ONC said that would kill any type of infection and it worked pretty quickly. To find out if it is indeed a blood infection they need to send the blood test out for a culture and it takes a few days to find out but they would start him immediately though on the Levaquin. Don’t push food on your Mom. If she doesn’t want to eat then try a nutrition drink like Carnation Instant Breakfast. Teddy loved the Vanilla and I blended in a banana. One shake takes the place of a full meal.

    Hi,
Cipro 500mg twice daily or Levaquin 500mg daily for 5-10days is appropriate for the infection;Zofran ODT 4-8mg every 6 hours AS NEEDED for nausea.
Ibuprofen 600mg or Tylenol 650mg every 6hr as needed for fever.
Doctors are human beings too and they may be attending other more serious patients(ie: heart attack pt ) and please forgive them if they do not come soon enough for your mom in ER.
Be sure to drink more fluids for hydration.
    God bless.

    Hi
My mom had a metal stent placed Wednesday, she needed a new one as she was very sick, vomiting, diarrhea for 2 days.
Anyway we were hoping she’d get relief from this but still has zero appetite, eats tiny bits of food and has to force that down. Today she is very tired, weak, naseaus and has a fever do we’re back at the ER
After this stent she was sent home on NO antibiotics which I am beyond confused and angry about and think that’s what is causing the fever/infection.has this happened to any one? I’m just writing as we sit here waiting, waiting, waiting fit a dr!!
