What a nice post…reminding all of us to make as many memories as possible. Since Ben was diagnosed I have been trying to commit to leave work by 5:00 everyday…because even the simple stuff right at home makes us feel good and creates it’s own memories. Thanks Frances!

What an amazing woman she is. Fabulous story, thank you for sharing it here!

It’s sad but still wonderful that something like cancer can change one’s outlook – not just the patient but those around them as well. Like my Mom, the day after they told her there was nothing left to be done and she booked the entire family on a nine-day cruise through New England and Canada. Eight days after we returned she died. I know the trip wasn’t easy for her, as she really did begin to go downhill while we were still vacationing, especially fatigue and confusion. But those are memories we will always treasure, including the grandchildren.

    Hi Frances,

Way to go indeed and your mum is indeed a champion, as are you. It is so good to hear that you and your mum were able to get to the beach and to make this memory for you. I know what this period is like for you as it was the same for my dad and I, and I so hope that you can make some more lovely memories.

My best wishes to you and your mum,

    Gavin

Today my Mother who has been on home paliative care for 6 weeks. Very frail, sleeps most of the day decided after her shower she wanted to get dressed for the first time in that 6 weeks and go for a drive down to the beach. This being only about 5 mins away I thought OK no problem if you feel you can do that Mom we will do it……boy what a trouper she did it, we were only out for around 15 mins but at 88 and in her condition she made me so proud. She said she felt she was seeing it for the first time. Why can’t we all see things like that. One more memory we made today.
