Hello everyone,
my Dad passed away this Tuesday July 24 at the age of 63. He promised he wouldn’t go before his birthday July 22 he kept his promise. I haven’t accepted the reality that I will never see him again. He was driving arround and playing with my niece a few weeks ago. I wasn’t even prepared for how fast his body was going to shut down because of the cancer. It was so painfull watching him in pain and not being able to do anything. My family had a horrible experience with hospice they didn’t make my dads last remaining days comfortable, just more pain to my family. It was overwhelming for my sister and me because we were there thru it all taking care of my Dad. My Dad finally got his peace on his last day with assistance from another hospice. I love my Dad and I will always miss him. My college graduation will be empty without him he is the reason I love Engineering and I will miss him on my wedding day and everyday. I love you Pa.The only option my dad had was chemo, it worked for a while it controlled the cancer for over a yr. However his cancer has spread and grown too much, that we are in the process of getting hospice right now, chemo is not an option anymore. He had a feeding tube put in today because he can no longer eat or keep food in.

My name is Gaby (briola24) I agree with Marion no one has an expiration date. At the previous hospital my Dad was in they had given him 3 months at the the most to live. It will be 2 years since we were told that this July 31. My Dad is currently at UCI Medical Center where he has had great doctors fighting to keep him with us.
Was it not possible to place a stent?
My Dad had the same symptoms your Dad has. His cancer is unresectable as well and it is 7cm and growing. It has spread to the rest of the liver as well as his spine.
He had stents placed on both sides, and one stent would release large amounts of bile, not so much on the other. In December they internalized the stents, and in April they tried Nano Knife.
Its now June and his cancer is spreading fast. And the Doctors told us he doesn’t have much time left, but we cant let that put us down. Everyone on here is amazing providing their support. I know everyone has helped me on this website when I feel hopeless.
Which UC is your Dad in?Thank you Lainy so much. I was feeling helpless I didn’t know what else I can do for my Dad. I already asked arround in the hospital and will meet with someone tomorrow morning. Thank you once again for taking your time to give me information it’s hard when no one arround you understands or knows what the cancer is that is affecting our loved ones.
Thank you Lainy and Marion, my Dad is currently at UCI Medical Center, but we were told there is not much they can do anymore. The doctors also said he wont be able to take chemo because he is too weak. I will ask about Hospice nurse. I didn’t know about any assistance we could get. My DaD can’t even close a water bottle and three weeks ago he was playing with my niece.
Hi everyone, so my Dad had the Nano knife done in April everything had gone well, he was doing good. However This past June 25 we found out my Dads cancer grew and started spreading fast. The cancer is now all over the liver as well as on his spine, and the doctors also found an Ulcer. His health has declined in the past two weeks, he can no longer handle chemo or eat. He is in heavy sleep most of the time and very weak. My Dad has no appetite and can’t keep what little he eats in. Does anyone have any ideas to keep my Dad from vomiting? He keeps saying he feels as if there is no room in his stomach
Thank you Lisa, and Chris for all of the information. My Dad is still currently in recovery and is on liquids only. I had another question, my dad doesn’t want to eat anything because he feels everything is swollen inside,is that normal, and part of the heeling process?
Hello everyone, they did the nano knife today on my dad and his doctors were successful in removing part of the tumor. We still have to wait to fully see how well nanoknife worked. Anything is great because his cancer was spreading. Plus my dad looks good after a 6hr surgery.
Hi everyone,
Has anyone heard anything recent about nanoknife or has done it? My dad is stage 3, and we just found out the tumor got bigger. The doctors brought up Nanoknife and they want to do it on my Dad within a month in a half, and he is scared. ( At UCI Medical Center)
Any information/stats would be great. Plus since it got approved by the FDA would it be covered my insurance/medical
Thanks everyone, GabyThanks Marion and Lainy, I think I will try google that way i can print stuff out. I do want my Dad to be more informed because sometimes he doesn’t know whats going on and assumes the worse, and since they couldn’t internalize one of his stents to his intestines he was bummed out all this week.
Hi Lainy and thank you, I do want other opinions too because sometimes I feel we could be doing more right now. I also don’t like the feeling of not knowing what some things are. Is there any Spanish Resources I can use to read to my Dad, so he can get more motivated in asking questions? Sometimes the translators are busy and I don’t know how to explain the technical terms in Spanish. I also think my Dads Doctors do have a game plan, Dr.Imagawa seems to be on it.

HI Bob, do you know if they’re doing those “clinical trials” in California. My Dad also has stents attached to outside drainage bags. Yesterday they tried to internalize one of them to connect it to the intestine, but were not able to. The cancer is still blocking and they wanted to go through the previous tube they were using to expand the duct. Sorry, I need to look up all the technical terms, its a lot and then trying to translate to Spanish for my Dad throws me off.
GabyHi Bob, thanks for telling us your story my Dad Benjamin got diagnosed this August, and it makes me happy to have heard about your story, when I keep reading statistics on cholangiocarcinoma that just bum me out. My Dad is going through radiation right now.
Thank you so much, I will try an contact Dr.Lanz for more information. Yesterday I was at UCI Medical Center because they were going to try an internalize one of my Dads tubes to connect it to the small intestine, and were not able too get through the blockage
My Dad had started radiation 25 days ago, and my Dads surgeon is Dr.Imagawa, he specializes in biliary too.
