Good news, good news. CT scan showed the tumor is shrinking. I saw the original scan and the one from Weds and it’s true. Also my Alk phos which started out @ 511 is now down to 105. I’m in the normal range, well, according to the blood work, but we all know I’m not normal. I’m staying on the same chemo plan till 12/30, ” Happy New Year”. My onc will be talking to Dr. House to see if the chemo pump is an option, with the thoughts in mind that ” what the heck the current plan is working fine, why change it? “

Remembering that beyond all this good news I still have CC, but conditions are changing that may allow more options in the future. And no matter what, I truthfully won’t ever be cancer free. But each new day is a new adventure, and a day spent with loved ones.

Thanks for all your support, and I throw prayers and positive thoughts back to each and every one of you.

Thanks to all of you for your comments and prayers. Please feel free to make your own pants, blankets, etc., to take your family and friends with you to maybe provide that extra support you need. I’m glad to be able to give something to others that will help them and their families thru this time in our lives. Or just the idea that we can still think outside the box on both support and witnessing for the Great Healer above.

I had my latest CT scan today and will know the results on Friday AM, will let you all know asap.

Reconfirming what others have said. On my 3rd chemo visit my platelets were 76 and I got the day off from chemo. The next week was an off week and then back at it. The next blood draw platelets were like 374 with out me doing anything different. Dr. adjusted chemo strength and I have been fine since then.

It’s nothing anybody did or didn’t do. keep the faith, the only way forward is forward. Prayers to you and your daughter.

I also was diagnosed in July and have been on chemo since, more of my story is on ” Road traveled by others ” so I won’t repeat it here.

I also am somewhat of a runner, but have to heart or desire to get out there right now. I have run 3 Mini Marathons and actually had entered the Indy Mini b4 the 500 mile race in May. I thought next year I would be 65 and that would be like a milestone year to run it. But plans change don’t they. I still have time but I just can’t train right now.

Congrats on your dad still running, they say exercise is one of the best things you can do to fight cancer. If someone offered me $ 5000.00 to run the Mini, I still wouldn’t get out there and train. Just a mental thing I’m fighting.

This place is great for support, answers and prayers. Keep us posted.

Thank you so much for the welcome, but youse guys have set me up with all those comments on humor and attitude. I have always tried to raise my children with a positive attitude and I have told them and my wife that this is just a roadblock on the road of life. Move it, go around it, climb over it, blow it up…………. but don’t let it stop you from going down that road.

Dang, I did it again, with that first paragraph.

Thanks again. My chemo drink has been pretty easy all things considered from reading other posts. I have had minimal side effects. 1 chemo was cancelled due to low platelets ( it was the 3rd one ). The Dr made adjustments and all blood work has been right on since then. I have had no nausea, no hair loss. Some itching now under control, constipation now under control. Sometimes I just want to sleep, appetite so, so, but my weight is not changing to speak of. I still do about anything I want, including balancing on one leg on a fallen tree about 7 ft above a raging creek ( maybe not raging ) but it was gurgling in Cades Cove around Gatlinburg. That was just to bug my daughter when she saw the photo.

This week end we are going with the daughter and grand kids to see the Sand Hill cranes as they migrate south for the winter, this takes place in Northern Indiana.

More later on what helps me through this disease.

Prayers to all, God Bless, Grover
